Aside from a grilled/pan seared ribeye medium rare steak...the turkey Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite dish...love everything about it.
I also love the next day leftovers...I make sandwiches, flautas (fried rolled about Mexican taquitos)...and all other kinds of stuff...yummy...

I usually go to the family T-Day dinner and take what leftovers I am alloted. This year I was thinking of cooking a turkey of my own as well. I love turkey so much! If I buy a turkey can I start cooking it as soon as I get it home from the supermarket? I mean those freezers are open to the rest of the store-no doors. Those turkeys don't need to be fully thawed if I was to cook it as soon as I get home, do they?Last edited by johnmiic; Nov 18, '11, 9:13 PM.Comment

Thanksgiving turkey: Can you cook it frozen? - MayoClinic.com
I personally wouldn't...because I like to prepare the thawed out turkey...you can easily inject it with flavors, the seasoning sticks much nicer and effectively...and you can cook the bird faster...the complete opposite of cooking a frozen turkey.
A better recommendation from me is to buy the frozen turkey well ahead of time...buy it three to four days before Thanksgiving...and just let the frozen bird sit INSIDE your fridge for those three to four days...it will be thawed out by Thanksgiving then...then you can start cooking much more effectively.
You can quick thaw it as well (see below)...
I got the following from a website:
Thawing in the Refrigerator:
Leave the bird in its original wrapping and place it on a tray in the refrigerator. Allow 5 hours per pound or 3-4 days for a 14-19 pound turkey to defrost.
"Quick" Thawing:
Place turkey in its original wrapping in sink and cover with COLD water. Change the water every 1/2 hour to maintain the temperature. Allow 1/2 hour per pound to defrost the turkey. Most turkeys will take from 5 to 10 hours to thaw.
Hope that helps!
