BTW...the Mastretta was discussed on Britain's Top Gear...and the cast started ranting on the car (without even testing it)...with various stereotypes of all sorts...which was not well received in Mexico...

Mexican car described as 'lazy, feckless, flatulent' by Top Gear team: We're not like that | Mail Online

I love Top Gear...but didn't find this funny...not because I can't take a joke...but I'd rather they actually test the car...and see if it sucks or not...and that's my main gripe about the whole thing. Having said that...it indirectly helped the Mastretta come into the forefront...now affectionately known as the "Tortilla"...lol.

Anyway...there you have it...an actual Mexican sports car...who would've thunk it...

Top gear also bashes most american made cars (including the much loved Mustang and Corvette) and calls Porche's " VW Beetles".

Not every car out there is available for them to test (it has to be one they can get in the UK or be able to travel somewhere to test)
Historically the mexican auto industry isn't know for inovation so ribbing is to be expected

Well...they have many auto plants...both American, European, and Japanese...and obviously they are all foreign companies. Mastretta is relatively new...it's their very first true Mexican auto company...but it's more of a specialty auto-maker...with a small production number. So, yes...you are right.
