    Return To Eden...Ultravox!

Finally got a chance to see a copy of the DVD and was blown away. If you are a fan of Ultravox or a fan of the "New Romantic" music of the 80's get a copy of this DVD. I started as a fan of Midge Ure's solo material and got into Ultravox afterwards. Here's just a little sample of the DVD from You Tube:

    One Small Day:

And the song that the band is most known for "Vienna" :

Again, Europe get's the only reunion tour of Ultravox. Hopefully with the new CD coming out next year they will tour the rest of the world.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    Berto,
    That's one great CD/DVD set.
Looking forward to see if they hit the US.
My friends and I were watching the Band-Aid set and my friend's wife was blown away by Midge Ure's vocal range. He was/is amazing.
Also was great in bringing together the sound for Visage, Rich Kids and wailing on guitar with Thin Lizzy.
Billy Currie and Cris Cross where also in Visage and helped bring that sound out.
Midge Ure truly brought Romanticism to the New Romantic movement.
Always well up when I see Dancing With Tears in My Eyes. So tragically beautiful. When I first saw the video when I was 13, I knew this was music that spoke to me.

I do like John Foxx's Ultravox. Some great vocals and tracks as well. "Hiroshima Mon Amor" is one great track as well.

Were you into Japan? David Sylvian has a great voice and style of writing.

I've heard of the group Japan, but have never heard anything by them.

As for Midge and Ultravox...I actually backed into Ultravox by buying Midge's first LP "The Gift". A friend of mine said that if I like "The Gift" that I would like the group that Midge was in before he went solo. My friend made me a tape of the last Ultravox LP called "UVOX". A lot of Ultravox fans don't like the last LP, but I think it's a pretty good LP. I mean how bad can it be when Sir George Martin is producing on the LP

This "Return to Eden" DVD has really gotten me into going back and listening to the LP's like "Quartet" and "Lament".

Could you imagine how much money Midge would have if he made ANY MONEY on "Do They Know It's Christmas" The music is ALL Midge and you can tell he fixed a lot of Geldof's lyrics.

If anyone is interested here's a 4 part interview with Midge from BBC:
