      Very sad news.
I too grew up with the comics and TV specials. It was my older brother's favorite and he still read it 'til the day he passed at age 22.
Family Circus always held a place in my heart despite it's religious undertones. It's very positive for kids.

Rest in peace, Mr Bill Keane. Thank you for my childhood memories.

I know this strip really gets a raw deal from cynics and hipsters, but I recently got to re-experience the innocent pleasure of his cartoons through the eyes of my niece and nephew. They really are quite timeless, classic, and kid friendly.

I agree. I always enjoyed his work.

He's certainly brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people - and he's well deserving of being celebrated. I don't want to take away from that.

I don't totally disagree with you, but I'm I'm critical of him for a few reasons. Family Circus CAN be very innocent and often very sweet - I don't want to disrespect anyone, I just want defend myself because I don't think I'm a cynic or a hipster - maybe we'll save this for discussion over a drink sometime?

RIP Mr. Keane - you will be missed!

Family Circus was always a good read growing up. It held up very well through the years. I admit to not really keeping up with the newspaper strips these days but im sure it was still one of the highest in quality. Mr Keane will definately be missed.

I understand his funeral procession will meander through the neighbor's yard, around several trees, jump over a stray cat, weave around 3 trash cans and jump through 4 mud puddles before finally arriving at the cemetary

He'd have wanted it that way.

*sniff* This truly saddens me. I grew up w/ the comic strips in the Sunday paper and the TV specials (some are on YouTube), and some years back my mom even bought me a book of compliled cartoons. In fact, before she died, we would read it together. Well, I guess she and Bill can discuss them now. RIP Mr. Keane. You brought much joy to my childhood and my mom's last days.
