We got between 6-8 in. of the white stuff here in Pa. alittle early for snow but i love it. Mostly all melted now -
Not bad now. Saturday was a mess. My son was working in Mt. Gretna, which is a small "resort" community in the mountains near where we live. He was stranded there overnight at a friend's house with no power. I attempted to get there to pick him up and couldn't do it and I have a Hummer. At one point, I was sliding sideways down the mountain road waiting to smash into a tree or another car trying to make it up the road. Luckily I was able to get enough traction to gain control and make it down the road. Needless to say, I gave up at that point and told him he would have to wait it out.Comment

Here's an interesting tidbit I heard. The last time we had snow this early in the year was right after the flood from hurricane Agnes back in the 70's. Very interesting that we had an early snow again after this year's flooding, which was by far the worst since Agnes.Comment

Downed trees were everywhere around here. Due to the fact that the leaves were still on the trees and the snow was very wet and heavy, caused a double whammy and had trees and limbs down everywhere. I heard some poor guy was sitting in his recliner and a tree fell on his house and killed him.Comment

That was the case in Maryland. Not really large accumulations of snow (about 2 or 3 inches) but it was that heavy, snowball making snow. It caused a lot of trees with leaves still on them to snap and hit power lines, leaving a lot of folks without electricity. In the 13 years we have lived in our house, our electricity has never gone out since our electrical lines are below ground but Saturday we were out from mid morning until 9 pm or so. Must have hit a main line or transformer. Cell phone reception was also spotty. I had plenty of bars and would call my mom to see if she was ok and just lose connection after talking for a few minutes."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I did see on the local news where live wires hit the ground, idiots were taking it upon themselves to saw away the limbs while the electric companies were begging people to stay away because these lines were on the ground and would kill you if you went near it."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
