I know this sounds silly to most of you, but I had 2 groups (bunch of 4 kids and a bunch of 5) of trick or treaters tonight... 9 kids in total, dressed up and all, that's the most ever. Totally made my day. I love Halloween and usually we don't get any trick or treaters, always bums me out a bit, but this year was a succes in my eyes"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

We had about 100 kids this year which is lower than normal. There is one family that goes all out on the candy every year. They hand out two supersize candy bars or a big box of candy (like you would buy at the movie theaters) to every kid. Every kid in the neighborhood bee lines it to their house. Heck, I have even thought of bringing out my Spidey costume and pretending to be a teenager!!!"The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

We live in the "densely packed" neighborhood so we usually get around 200 kids. The firehall is a few blocks away as well and they have a huge handout so our neighborhood is always packed with kids. I setup an outdoor photo studio a few years ago and took photos of anyone who wanted one. That was a fun year.Comment

We only got 60-70 kids but we live in cul-de-sac court of a one mile circle of houses, so I think kids walk the ring more than going down each individual court.
I did the walk this year and couldn't get over the folks who go over the top for Halloween, I've felt so alone.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

In my area, more and more adults dress up with their kids every year. When I was a kid, there were hardly any adults dressed with kids.
It's odd how the throngs of people shift into different neighborhoods slowly over the years. Within 4 blocks of my old homestead, where my dad still lives, there were tons of kids, as always. One corner was so jammed up it looked like the place was being mobbed! But another part of town that is usually very busy was deader than a doornail. Folks were giving my kids whole handfuls of candy because they knew that they wouldn't get much more business.

We had an average number of kids show up. Our house is a bit hidden in a cul-de-sac, so I think it get overlooked a bit. I stayed home and gave out candy while watching football, and my wife went out with the kids. They really got a big haul this year and spent the evening sorting it out and trading.Comment

Because we live in a very rural area with absolutely no neighborhoods or streets to trick or treat on, our church puts on a "Trunk or Treat" for the kids and adults of the community. People park their cars, decorate their trunks, and give out candy from their trunks. We also serve hot dogs and chili, as well as balloons, etc. Last count was 458 kids and parents.
