Yes, I seriously think giant McDonald's gives a crap about what animal right groups think because theyran for the hills crying for their mommies when Mervin Sperlock made his documentary Supersize Me! and changed nearly 1/2 the menu for fear of lawsuits, boycots and reprisals.

You've just been served! Bon Apetitie`!

If they really gave a crap...they would stop serving burgers altogether...yet they keep slaughtering millions upon millions of cattle.

Dont give them any ideas, next we will see the "McCrow Value Meal".

Y'know, McDizzle is always looking into the newest in plastic food trends and how to slop them to the masses, so what about pigeons, McD? There are billions of 'em in NYC alone, and I'm sure they are high-pro/low fat!

I dunno, Hec-- They've got to care about that kind of stuff. Hell, they have entire divisions of the company that are dedicated not only to public relations, but all sorts of legal people. John is right; Look at what "Supersize Me" did to the McMenu-- Huge changes implemented there. Why? Well, because what Morgan Spurlock did, was expose the general public to exactly what is in that stuff and what it can do to you if eaten every day, three times a day. Is it extreme? Of course it is-- Or so I thought.

Back when that film came out, I liked it. I thought it was really interesting, but also thought to myself; "C'mon, who eats McDonalds every day?" The answer that I found after doing tons of my own research was; WAY more than you would think. Fast food is an epidemic. In a way, you are right Hec-- to a degree, they don't give a crap, because even though some of, if not most of the people that eat there, know pretty much what they're eating and certainly know it's bad for them. Yet, they still flock to the place by the millions or trillions, whatever it is now--

It's like smoking. People know it's bad for them and that in many cases, will KILL them, yet they still smoke. Why? Habit, addiction, whatever-- call it what you want, but people (Americans in particular) are going to do what they want, when the want. To me personally-- I'm still amazed they still MAKE cigarettes. How much more do they have to prove that they cause cancer and will kill you? It's all about revenue-- MONEY. The United States of America is, was, and always will be, in and of itself; a business.

You don't think the people that make and sell fast food, know that it's bad for you, just like the cigarette companies? Sure, they have their charts and statistics and research about people that have lived long, healthy lives smoking their cigarettes or eating their food, but we all know that isn't the norm. Do they exist? Sure they do, but you're talking about a very small percentage. Don't get me wrong here, I eat fast food. Probably more of it than I should, so I want to be very transparent about the fact that I'm not preaching here. Believe me, I don't smoke, drink or eat fast food anywhere even remotely close to every day, but I do like it. I don't think you're gonna find too many people that don't think it tastes good-- Salty, sugary, caffeinated goodness.

Here's another one for you; The top speed limit in the United States is 75 mph. That means, in this country, it's ILLEGAL to drive your car faster than 75 miles an hour. So, why do American car manufacturers make cars that go faster than that?

See my point, Hec? These companies "care" in a sense of the word about all this stuff, and will in most cases make some very minor changes, but will they stop selling fast food, fast cars or cigarettes?

^^^^ Well said Sandy! McDonalds does bow to public opinion.

Before that Sperlock film ever came out In the early `90's I used to eat 2 of those little McD's hamburgers nearly every day for lunch, during a 5-day work week, for about a month. I saw my Dr. and he did a chloresterol test. He told me the news like he was telling a dead man he had months to live. I don't drink or smoke and at the time I was thin like I'll probably never be again so I had those factors in my favor. Yet you could see the concern in his expression that if I didn't stop and fly straight I was headed for serious harm.

So except for the recent McRib craze I limit myself to McD's, Burger King, White Castle or Taco Bell 1 time, after 2-3 months pass, (I've done 4 McRibs as of the end of this week tho). I have Pizza or a meatball hero from the local Pizzeria more than that but prefer to cook chicken cutlets, some beef, pasta and I loves making Chicken Soup.

I've eaten about 12 of these things since starting this Thread.
At like 3 different Locations. I will not buy them from the 1 location anymore ...., They are Horrible, and just not as good as the other 2 locations. The 1 location makes the best 1's I've ever had. I think the Key is the Sauce ..., and the right amounts of Onions and Pickels. Some chains seem to rip you off when it comes to that, and the sauce just doesn't taste right compaired to others.

I wasn't talking about the general public...I was talking about animal groups, Sandy.

All of them want immediate cease of the slaughtering of any animals...yet millions and millions of animals still die for our tastes buds...that's because the majority of us are meat eaters.

Animal rights groups might change a few things here and there...but they will NEVER stop the cattle industry, chicken, pig, etc...

                      ...and that was my point...

You are right about location...some are great, and some are terrible.

Even the practice of service differ from location to location.

Take those sauce packages for example. Sometimes I like to order a hot mustard (from Chicken McNuggets)...because I like to dip my fries on that...some locations will give you a couple without tripping...and some will charge you 25 cents for each package...unreal...lol.

I've had two McRibs in two different McDonald's since it came back...one was great...and the other one was garbage...like night and day.

OK...who hates when you order drive-through...and they don't automatically give you any ketchup?

I used to have the bad habit of not checking my delivered bag check...and many times...no friggin' ketchup!

I noticed after the economy tanked...and when fast food places started selling bargain stuff like one dollar burgers...they started skimping on giving extra things like ketchup...and even napkins and straws.

But I learned my lesson...I request ketchup (and napkins) from the very beginning with my order...and now check my goodies before I take off...lol.

Shouldn't ketchup be an automatic thing?

Are these fast food restaurants that hard up for money?

Worse still, the abundance of functional fixedness. For example, the other day I asked for honey mustard for my fries, and the girl at the window actually looked stumped, like a robot on short circuit. She started to say "Honey mustard? B-but you didnt get any chic..." She was baffled by my "exotic" order to the point where she went and fetched the manager, who then looked at my bf and I like we were five headed aliens! She of course tossed the honey mustard into the bag, but the whole while she was eyeing us like a crotchety old judge!
                            I mean, really....
