Dryer repair. I think I figured it out - 2nd opinion

So, my Whirlpool dryer's heat quit working.
I finally took it apart, to see if it was clogged or find visually burnt parts...neither was the issue.
Following some great do-it-yourself website, I have my 240volts at the heat element block, but no heat...so best I can tell...I need a new element.

That diagnosis jive with any of you do-it-yourself folks?

That's what happened to our dryer. It was working but no heat. Something to do with replacing the thermostat or thermal fuse. The part was less than $20. I can't remember the details. If you are putting voltage there and not getting anything perhaps it's the heating element that needs replacement.

Chad. I blew three thermal fuses before I said **** it and twined the wires together 2 or 3 years ago. The thermal fuse only came in a kit that was like 30-35 bucks. It's behind the panel on top. Just touch the wires together and try the switch to check if it's blown.

You probably have one of the two noted here.

          Thanks folks.
Chuck, I actually have one styled on the far left (as I look at my screen) which is rivoted to that plate and it sorta hooks onto the heat element housing.
So, since I am getting my 240volts at the heat element block - that would imply to me that the thermal fuse is working and i wouldn't need to splice it out of the mix as you did?

Turned out to be my heat element.
before running out to the store, I ran an OHm test on the element and it failed. I looked it over real good and found a break in it.
            $52 to repair.

When my Heat Element went out ...., I went all Tim Tayler & tried to fix it myself. I bought the Element ( Mine had 2 Coils) and attempted to fix it myself.

After 3 Days, a Ton of Sweat and Mental Frustration ..., I did complete the Project , However the Dryer got like 10times Hotter than ever too ..., and I was so worried I was gonna Burn the House Down. Clothes were so damn hot coming out , you could barely touch them.

I found a Dryer on Craig's list down the street for 25 Bucks, and even got the guy to deliver it for and Extra 5.

A similar accurance happened with my Washing Machine.
I will never buy either brand new, and will never attempted to fix them myself again in the Future either. Just way too many Cheap-o's out there , and it seems the older they are, they better they are imo.
