Thundarr the Barbarian ABC 1980-82 NBC 1983 Ruby -Spears

I have been on a huge Filmation kick lately but I picked this up day before yesterday. Its the 4-disc 21 episodes Warner Archives Complete Series 2010 release. The video and Audio are really good just taken straight from the masters I guess? It has got to be one of the best non Filmation cartoons ever! I forgot how much Thundarr kicked arse!he was much tougher then He-Man thats for sure!
Bob Ridgley is awesome as the Voice of Thundarr

I've always liked Thundarr. I need to pick up the DVDs. My son calls the Sunsword a 'vranking' sword because of the sound it makes.

    "Lords of light!"

"I prefer to remain an enigma."

I remember Thundarr being in direct competition with Blackstar on saturday mornings. It was a good thing we finally got one of those neat new inventions back then: the VCR! You could tell it was inspired by Star Wars; Jack Kirby even did some character designs for it!

I believe only the second season of Thundarr 81-82 was in Competition with Blackstar which ran 81-82 .13 episodes on CBS /Thundarr came out a year before 1980-81 ABC

My late friend Mike turned me on to Thundarr. He said, "You will really like this show!" and I did. Later found out the designs, and the concept, were realized by Jack Kirby.

Was there much Thundarr merchandise made (back when it originally aired) ? I have a board game, that's pretty much all I ever saw. I remember The Comic Reader, which was the "Bleeding Cool News" of comic collecting pre-Internet reported that a Gold Key comic book was coming out. Man, I searched for that comic book for years before I found out it was never published. That would have rocked!
Too bad DC Comics & Warner Bros don't see fit to market any Hanna-Barbera adventure stuff other than Scooby Doo.

I watched Thundarr every Saturday when it originally aired. I loved it then, but haven't seen it since, I'm kinda scared to see if it's still entertaining for me.
