I personally don't enjoy the celebrations that take place at the death of anyone. As an American; I think most of the happiness of an evil dictator being done away with is hopes that a more rational leader will take their place and at least add some stability to an already unstable world.

I do feel happy for those who had to suffer under a horrible dictator and hopeful that they will find a way to live peacefully.

A coworker and I were talking about it at work today, and two other coworkers actually asked who we were talking about. They literally had never heard of him, so we had to explain the whole Libya thing to them. Wow, I guess some people just never read or watch news or anything. But they can tell you all about the last episode of American Idol or Dancing with the Stars.

I dunno, man--it seems pretty weird no matter where it happens. I just think we expect it to happen over there. If it happened in (f.ex.) Canada or the UK, it would come off a lot more shocking due to our sense that Western nations are somehow more civilized. But Oliver Cromwell's head was still buried in an undisclosed location as late as the 1960s.
