Very sad...the cops had no choice but to shoot them...it was getting dark, and they had little to no tranquilizer guns...

But the question is why was this man allowed to own all these exotic animals?

Among the animals killed...18 endangered and rare Bengal tigers...gone...tragic...

That sucks, I was just driving through there on Monday. That sign says Wheeling and Columbus I was right there. There should have been a bunch of Zoo keepers with tranquilizers dispatched to capture these animals, instead Roscoe and Enis get to shoot em.

Like Jack Hanna said, tranquilizer darts at night would have been impossible and extremely dangerous. If you miss, or the aniimal is able to get away before it becomes sleepy, when the drug wares off they will be very aggressive. Anyone even getting in their car to go to work would be at risk.

Yeah...even he said deadly force had to be done...they had no choice.

Had this happened during smack in the middle of daylight...it would've been a much different story...I think most would've indeed been tranquilized and contained.

How do they know that was all the dangerous animals? Like could there be a couple Lions or Tigers still out there?

It took place less than an hour and a half south of us.They said on the news the animals were malnurished and in bad shape.They drug it out on the radio longer than what it really took to contain.It was a horrible shame, such rare animals met such a tragic end.On the lighter side of it, you know those Deputys will be telling people for years about the day that shot down lions and tigers and bears.
Maybe the laws now can be changed to stop this from happening again.

They had a record of the animals that were at the compound,as of last night just a monkeye remained missing.

Very sad and tragic but the officers did what was right under the circumstances.

I don't think people should be allowed to have wild and endangered animals as pets. But there are many independant owned and operated wild life sanctuarys in the US that serve a very good purpose. They are generally well funded, maintained, regulated and the animals recieve constant care. Most of the animals come from owners that thought having a wild animal as a pet was a good idea or cast offs from overcrowed zoos. Those animal can't be released back into the wild.

it's a very tragic event......but as stated, the real question is how this guy was allowed to have all these animals with his criminal record

there should have been a law to prevent this to begin with. those animals are to dangerous just for someone to own and collect. makes no sense. those beautiful animals suffer because of human stupidity
