Does anyone recall this childrens program?

A dear friend helped me locate this recently. The imagery and music haunted my dreams for many, many years. We used to watch this on a Canadian PBS channel and we were all really entranced with it. I'd love to be able to get a cd of just the music, it sounds like it could have been part of Abbey Road at times.
Apparently, the lyrics are comprised of inter-language gibberish, though I swear that one of the characters says "Canada" in there somewhere. Cheers to the country of France for this beautiful programme.

many years back in the 80's Nickelodeon used to show parts of that show as part of their show called "pinwheel"

Wow - That looks really familiar to me! Especially when they're looking away from the camera and we just see the tops of their hats - but my memory of it is really unclear.
