    Craigslist Questions

I'm not a regular user of Craigslist and I'm looking for some advice and/or guidance...To be honest, I tried using Craigslist way, way back when it 1st started but it was a horrible mess (IMHO) and I quickly abandoned it since.

    What's your opinion of Craigslist?

What are some of the things to look out for (i.e. scams)?

Are there any Tools, Apps, and/or Sites that you would recommend that can assist with organizing Craigslists HUGE database of classified?

I can easily find a ton of Tools & Apps, some of which seem very interesting, but if there are any that you personally use and recommend, that would help.

    Thanx All.

    Sincerely,

    ~ Tom

    I sell on Craigslist sometimes

Basically 90% of all reference emails on your items are scams

Most are easy to spot --- It's just a pain wading through them

Also, 90% of the people that email about something you're selling wont end up buying it for some reason or another.

In the end Craigslist is a pain in the butt --- but worth it because it's free.

Just keep your wits about you

I love craigslist - especially for furniture and local stuff. I've found a few great deals, but it takes patience.

        Craiglist is great.

As long as all transactions are done in person (and not at night)...no shipping.

I have bought and sold countless items through Craigslist.

        Bought:

        64 1/2 Mustang
        Galaga arcade machine
        Patio furniture
        Giant umbrella for my patio
        Dining table with chairs
        Bed & Mattress
        Exercise bike
        R/C car

        Sold:

        F 150 Truck
        Desk
        Ikea Glass Curios
        Piano
        Carport tent

        ...among other things...

Thumbs up for Craiglist so far...

My devoted minivan died last week and I just found my replacement through craigslist. A van I was looking at from a dealer was $6495. I got a better one in nicer condition from a private seller for $3100. I liked it before that but really like it now.

            Thanx Everyone...

Thought I'd get more responses and some app suggestions...

I've downloaded an (Free) App for my Droid called Craigslist Notification by Mufumbo that alerts me whenever an item that matches my search gets posted and it lets me save items I may be interested in.

...and also started using the website allofcraigs.com to search through Craigslist's HUGE database of postings.

Does anyone use anything else they could recommend?

The few good deals I've had through Craigslist made the countless wastes of time worth it.

A guy responded to my "want ad" ad I bought his entire childhood toy collection for $500. It was a dream score with boxes of GI JOE, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (like half the entire line), nearly the complete collection of Thundercats including the ultra rare Tongue-A-Sauras and lots more.

I bought a bunch of vintage 60s Barbie stuff from a guy for $20 and made over $300 on it.

Aside from that, it can be a magnet for jerks. Some idiot on there earlier was trying to see 59 80s GI JOE figures for $2,000.

A lot of sellers are lazy *******s that are too stupid to do or understand eBay.

I have heard nothing but bad things about it and would never use it myself.

Been emailing on and off with some moron from CL (guy who wants $2,000 for some loose Joes).

"like i said, and i cant stress this enough, what people are asking is what they deserve, what people are selling low for is cause they are desperate! plain and simple, if you werent amazed by my lot we wouldnt be in this conversation ! no one has what i have and i wont sell for desperation! go buy off the desperate and save cash, i dont budge because im not desperate! but if my electric bill gets cut off, or im behind on rent or my kids need a new toe, i will lower my prices to hobo prices, until then i will keep them before i toss them away for free!! craigslist has people selling used license plates for 1,200 and salt n pepper shakers for 1,000.00 .. AND I CANT SELL MY GI JOES FOR WHAT I WANT? UMM LICENSE PLATES RNT VINTAGE"

                  So if I ask $500 for a $10 item, I guess I "deserve it".

Showed him a listing for a GI JOE vehicle that sold for $160 (one he told me sells for $500). According to him, the guy who asks $500 is right and the other seller is just a desperate hobo.

                    Haha:

"im sorry if you thought yoiu were misled but these are GI JOES made in the 80's which means they cant be made in the 80's anymore because the 80's dont exist, people are selling for all prices, i can shoiw u ten links of high priced hover crafts, because they rnt desperate people, they know what its worth, the people selling low are DESPERATE PEOPLE WHO need to pay their electric bill, or need hospital wotk for their kids"

Good thing these people do stay on CL and stay away from ebay. I can just smell the negative feedback.

                        Palms are sweaty, breathing heavy.

Dealing with a Craigslist seller right now.

A NICE FIND! But getting jerked around. Long story short: selling something killer, says it's his sister-in-law's stuff, guy supposedly coming from Upstate tomorrow to pick it up, told them I will come TONIGHT, cash in hand. Telling me will call me tonight if she decides to let it go to me. Waiting....waiting....ears waiting for the ringing of the phone, but the clock is ticking and it's going on 9:00PM.

I'm not sure what the percentage of craigslist creepers are time wasters, but I think it has to be something like 4 out of 5? Explained that.

                        Let's see how it transpires.

Guy from upstate never showed (gee, what a surprise).

Going to pick up the loot today. I'll post it in the classic toy finds and a few things in the market place.

OK, I'm wearing egg on my face.

I went. I was about 10 minutes late. No sign of the woman.

I called, no answer. Finally I get through and her daughter told she her mom left after 15 minutes.

I get home and find this in my inbox:

Carol could not make it at 4:30, she had a doctors appt. for her daughter, me and her son waited for you from 4:20 to 4:50, the dolls went to the next person on the list. Sorry

                            LIE! Two different stories..

Anyway, it for 4 kiss megos MIB for $300, plus an extra Peter Criss for $100
