Hmm - all depends on how you define "remake" though...

Like, to me the 1983 version of Scarface isn't really a remake - the theme is the same and they have the same title, but there's very little from the 1932 version. The 1931 version of Frankenstein isn't really a "remake" of the 1910 version - to me, just for another example - they're just based on the same material, but who knows if they even looked at the original film when they made the '31 version. The recent Casino Royale is that kind of thing too - same source, totally different films - to me, anyway.

      I liked these:

      • Fistful of Dollars
      • Cape Fear
      • The Fly
      • Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
      • The Ring
      • His Girl Friday & The 70s version of the Front Page (though, these are all based on the same play, really)
      • Vanilla Sky (I still haven't seen the original to compare though)

as always Tom in the same team except for the Fly 1986 it was okay but David Cronenberg is a litle over the top for my taste

Does the recent Trek reboot count? True Grit comes to mind as a good one. 3:10 to Yuma was ok.

I too must give a nod to True Grit. I wasn't sure if they could pull that one off but they did in spades. the Trek reboot was also enjoyable to me.

Another one that was surprisingly good (although rather long) would have to be Sabrina with Harrison Ford

I think you are being too picky and technical...I'm going with the rest of the crew here...and list sequels based on the same title of the movies as well...

I don't know if "Star Trek" counts as a remake but loved it.

If TV shows do count; I loved the "Brady Bunch Movie". I have seen every episode at least 10 times and really enjoyed the twist of placing them in modern times.

Yeah, a lot of people here don't like PJ's Kong, but I really did like it too.

                              I hate Jack Black

I would have rather even seen Jon Lovitz as Carl Denham
