then have a freind go for u or a family memeber go, that what i would do, whenever i do these deals. I have a backup plan always but u did maybe tip them off alittle buy jumping around on price. I always take a lof of money when garage saleing and what not. i have one pocket small bill and other pocket big bills. Ask what they want and if they seem unaware what it is then cheap pocket, if they kinda know i offer roughly 30% of asking then we haggle then i buy that day. I have lost in the past calling and what not but goodluckon this one.

Erm... I guess it shows my ignorance of the GI Joe RAH market, but I'm shocked that stuff is really worth $500...

Totally, and sadly, we have experienced this. Cant tell you how many times we have been at yard sales and toy malls and heard things like "Well, on Antiques Roadshow they..." and "These are collectors items, you know!"
As entertaining and informative as many of these shows are, I believe that at the end of the day they are a great detriment to the hobby. As Den had mentioned, insane things like Mario/Duck Hunt cartridges with those asking prices, when in reality that game is worth $.50.

That is a pile of parts only. What collector does not have a pile of incomplete stuff and parts for stuff they do not have? The idea is eventually they will find the rest of the parts to complete a piece or two. That is precisely what this lot is. My offer would be $200-$300 firm, and that is being way too fair.

Maybe it was a good thing they didnt take your offer, Den.

Chances are they were too embarassed to admit that you offered a fair price. This has happened to me on Ebay before. Someone will have a price or best offer. The price will be way too high and I'll send the seller a polite email explaining what the item sells for and don't want to send an offer that will feel insulting but would they take what it's worth at $x amount. They will say "no" and will take nothing less than $y firm. I just politely respond thanks and to contact me if they can't get $y and will let my offer stand. Some time will pass and then I find out, the seller sold the item for less than my firm offer. I can't think of why they wouldn't contact me again unless they have erased my contact information or are just embarassed to admit that they were wrong.
