Exactly. I already knew this was a great place, but all the help for Derek amazes me, I am proud to be part of this wonderful group

The highlight of this year's MegoMeet for me was your attendance. It was absolutely priceless to see someone discover all the Museum and the Meet have to offer as it happened. Your energy and pure joy were just infectious and was a great springboard for the rest of a fantastic weekend. It's what MegoMeet is all about. It was an honor to meet you, and be present for the widening of your Mego horizons.

The people here make the Museum the greatest place on the web. I am more than proud to be counted among the number of such a fantastic group of people. Once you join and join in you find it's about so much more than toys, which is truly a rarity in this field. I love this place.

My thanks to Anthony, Brian, Dave, Joe, Paul, Scott, and so many others for the hard work each and every day that goes in to making the Museum the virtual jewel that it is.

Glad I could help you complete some of your Megos! That is what I love about this place, everyone trying to help each other in our quest for Megos.

My thanks to all those who pioneered this site, for all their hard work and dedication to provide the absolute best resource on the web for Megos. To all the card sponsors and members that freely trade thanks for the fun and joy provided. Thanks to all the members, I look forward to reading your posts, every day. When I joined here I owned 3 Megos... a 12" MIB Batman with a busted knee pin, a 12" MIB Spidey, and a T1 Superman that I accidently won off the Ebay.

I had been hauling the 12"ers around with me since the 90s, when the Canadian Parkdale warehouse find was first being offered through Previews and I ordered 'em through my buddy's comic shop.

Fast forward more than a decade, and I'm married and living up here in Baltimore. I'm lounging around watching TV one night and the wife is in the office looking for God-Only-Knows-What on the Ebay. With blatant disregard for whatever the hell it was that I was watching, she yells from the office,

"Hey, how much is an old Superman doll worth?"

We had a house full of vintage Kenner SW and Super Powers at that point, plus the 2 12" Mego guys, and I guess thats why she figured her question made some sort of sense. So, I'm all like,

"How old is he, and is he packaged or loose?"

"The auction description says he's from '72 and he's loose..." she yelled. "... looks like he's in real good shape." she added.

                "40 bucks." I replied.

I couldn't tell you why that was my answer, but since it wasn't very much, I didn't care, and it never occurred to me that she was actualy bidding on something anyway. The next week, Superman came in the mail; we won him for 38 bucks + shipping, and now I know it's probably because he was about as poorly listed as he could be. I'm still not clear on how Jeannine found him in the first place, and she doesn't remember! He was listed as "1970s Supper-Man"... no mention of Mego or anything else useful.

When I opened the package it was love at first sight. In the box was a very minty, all original right down to the perfect emblem, T1 Superman. He was just so bright and red and blue and AWESOME! Of course, I knew nothing about Megos from a collector's perspective at that point, and right away I wanted to know more about this guy. I thought about the Parkdale 12"ers for the first time in years, and by the next day I had excavated them from the closet and they were perched on top of the TV along with Superman. The TV had never looked better!

I spent a couple of hours on internet the next day looking for "Mego Superman", and apparently some place called The Mego Museum was the place to be for all things Mego related. Internet had never led me astray before, so I headed over here, joined up, and spent the next 3 or 4 days reading every single word here, taking brief breaks every so often to spam up the forums real good with dumb questions.

After I came to terms with the sheer amount of outstanding info and all the swell pics avaliable, the next thing that registered with me was how amazingly nice and patient everyone was with the clueless noob posting the endless questions. Rebelscum, this place was not.

After a week, I was hooked, and looking for a 8" Spidey to go with my big one. But it was Dave Mc, with assistance from our Fearless Leader Brian, that set the hook, reeled me into the boat, and smacked me into submission with the oar.

One of the 8945678645 questions I posted that first week was,

"Does anyone know where I can buy an original Mego kneepin for the 12" guys?"

After more than a decade of hauling him around, it was only after joining here that I learned about the knee problems w/the 12" skinny guys, and when I checked mine, sure enough, Batman had a busted pin. I was totaly bummed. I didn't want to go the repro route with this guy, so without really thinking I would get any results, I made my dumb post.

As you may have guessed, Dave sent me an original Mego pin AND collar for my poor Batman, and didn't ask a damn thing in return! I was stunned. I know... it's a simple enough thing in principal, but the abstract is very much different than the reality of a stranger going out of his way like that to help out an over inquisitive noob. That was something I had not previously experienced.

Not long after the knee surgery, as if Batman wasn't kicking enough ***, our Fearless Leader Brain sold me an unused, never folded up, original Parkdale Mego Batman box so I could replace the ratty one I had been kicking up and down the east coast for the last decade or so. For a total sum that was so minimal I'd be ashamed to mention it, my (by then) beloved Batman had gone from drab to fab... he is beyond case fresh, and by a large margin, one of my most prized possessions. Not because he's so extra minty, but because of how he came to be so.

Since I leave my house from time to time, I am invariably reminded of how rude, thoughtless, crass, and generally unpleasant many people can be much of the time. But when I get back home and find myself in the office, I always glance up at my Parkdale Canadian Batman and he makes me remember that much of the time, many people can be kind, selfless, polite, and generally big sweeties.

Since than, about 8945689 members have done something nice for me, and I try hard to do the same when I can cause they deserve it.

This place is the absolute Bee's Knee's, and it's the people that make it so.

Nowadays I own 0 Super Powers guys, damn near 0 vintage Kenner Star Wars guys, and 30+ (and counting!) Megos. All because of a comically listed Ebay Superman, a much abused and well traveled 12" Parkdale Batman, and the best bunch of Internet Friends a guy could ever hope to have!

So yeah, thanks to everyone here who makes it happen.
