Hey everyone. I realize I've been scarce here over the past months, and for that I apologize. Some of you may be like, "Well who the heck is this guy?" and that's totally fair because although active for a couple of years, it was kind of hit and miss with my schedule.
At any rate...the reason for my lack of participation and time here is because the office I worked for went under and I can't afford to collect anymore. I've been without a job for some time now. The marketplace here was like my own little slice of heaven as I eagerly checked it every day. Almost every morning was like Christmas in the late 70's early 80's for me! New treasures to be found and loved...anticipation of the gems I'd purchase...and then I lost my job.
Flash forward a few months and both my wife's grandmother and my grandmother (who we are VERY close to and live right next door) had massive strokes within two days of each other. Both the week of my birthday. Yep...sucked. Then my wife's grandmother passed and on June 30th, our anniversary, my grandmother passed. **sighs**
My wife was given her grandmother's Barbie collection. Her grandmother had collected Barbies ever since the first Barbie came out, only collecting the ones she likes though. There are a few, of course, my wife has fond memories of and wants to hold onto, but then there are the rest of them and here is where this topic comes up: is there a place like this for Barbies? A real reputable place where the people are kind and generous and not cut throat resell on eBay sorts?
Although we could most definitely use the money in our current situation with one income supporting three adults and two children, we don't want these going to just any yay-hoo out there. We hope these that we are willing to part with would go to someone that would love them as much as her grandmother did. The majority of these are still in the boxes and have never been removed, just kept in her Barbie room for the last 3-50 years or so. After that, they were put in storage because she had to live with my wife's parents for a few years.
