It's UARS not uras. When is it going to crash? It went over the NW a while ago, but still isn't falling. It's supposed to go overhead again at about 2:45 AM. I'll try to see it again then if it hasn't fallen yet. Is anybody else trying to see it?

I meant U.A.R.S. not uras. Oops! I got it confused with the I.R.A.S.Last edited by LonnieFisher; Sep 24, '11, 2:15 PM. -
I heard the odds of killing someone was 3200:1...not exactly odds that I like. I heard a scientist last night say something to the effect that it won't hit North America so no worries here. It made me sick to my stomach that a scientist made a remark that insinuated that a human life in North America was better than a human life anywhere else on the planet....disgusting."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

NASA: 6-ton satellite hits Earth; location unknown - Yahoo! News
I'm starting to think it's a lie. They say they don't know where it went down. I know they can track by radar better than that. There is no way they didn't know where it was at all times. They could even have had it on visual the entire time. We have way better tech than that. What a joke! I doubt the whole story now!Comment

I would think the satellite broke-up into smaller pieces upon final reentry. Probably its parts dropped in numerous different spots that they couldn't track them all simultaneously. I read that there wasn't a precise impact area but debris were expected to fall over a swath of sea 500 miles long.Comment
