Old photos of NY in the `40's-In COLOR

These are rather unique` as most old photos are in B&W. Seeing how the styles were so different too, B&W only makes old photos seem more "unreal".

I love these!

I have an entire closet full of old family photos and some days it is very easy to forget that my great, great grandparents lived in a bright, vivid world, instead of the gray scale one we see in old photos.

Cool! Thanks, my mom was from Jersey City and had aunts that lived in NYC and I still have an uncle there.

Y'know some of those pics didn't look too different than when I was a kid growing up in NYC. I bet some of those apartment buildings are still standing (w/ renovations). And, oh the hot dog cart. That really isn't all that different than the ones today. I miss the one that was parked at the top of my block (along w/ the Good Humor man), every summer.

i enjoy these type of photos. i dont see many color ones from this era. everyone just looks dressed up like their making a film. ive been trying to find some backwoods country color photos of stores and the insides of stores from this period but havent had any luck so far.
