Are soccer players the only athletes who fake injuries right in the middle of games?

Well I see it like this. There was enough outrage over this, the NFL has jumped in and said they will punish players and teams that do this. A lot of folks frown on it and now the league does too. So if a team is caught, they pay. The philosophical debate is moot. It's no longer tolerated. I applaud the NFL for standing up and doing the RIGHT thing. Cheating is cheating whether one does it or ten does it. And I don't waiver which team does it. As a person who played the game, I have never done it and would never endorse it.

yea but my thing is, how can an official really prove it? if a guys drops down and says he has a cramp...who's to say he doesn't?

              Like this...

They weren't hurt and it was abundantly obvious. If that happens next Sunday, the team and player will be heavily fined and could even lose a draft pick. Too harsh? Nope. If teams feel that cheating is tolerated, then heavy fines need to be applied to discourage this kind of practice. Let's be honest too. The way they did it made them really look... girlie? If I was in the locker room after that, I would get in their face and call them that. Sorry, we just have to agree to disagree. I played the game and played hurt. People are respected for playing hurt, not acting hurt. In my book and experience, your a girlie boy if you fake an injury. It goes against the grain of what that game teaches, which is to endure and work through adversity. Plus...this was the Rams for Gods sake. They sucked! Cheating against a low end team? That's beyond lame. If a coach asked me to do that, I would tell them to take a knee before I put him on both. A man doesn't tell his players to do that.

They will keep doing it, but just turn to playing the part a little longer. There is no real way to tell if a player cramps up and is better in a couple of minutes. Anyone who has played competitive sports has probably experienced a really bad muscle cramp before and it hurts bad enough that you literally can put no weight on it. The cramp can be undone in minutes many times. Strange but true.
