I stopped DVDs about a year ago and have been happy with $8/month streaming. I watch on my phone, tablet, computer, TV. . . .freedom!
for $16/month to get streaming plus 1 DVD at-a-time just doesn't seem worth it, since my watching is so sporadic and broken up.

I wonder how many memberships they lost today

I have no interest in Redbox and hanging out with the local trash getting the latest Adam Sandler dvd.

As Hec stated, Redbox is an option and is around our neighborhood since Blockbuster closed shop. There is only one place to rent movies in our hood and it's on top of the hill, right Mike?
Yeah...Redbox booths are all over the place now...practically on every 7-Eleven around here...and supermarkets, etc. You couldn't get first run DVDs on Netflix unless you timed the returns perfectly...if I missed the deadline...I'd have to wait over a month for first run DVDs. No more.

I won't be doing business with Blockbuster either...I don't care if they have booths now...they caused me lots of headaches through the years (and lots of money from late fees)...and I have not forgotten about it.

Streaming through Netflix...and DVDs through Redbox.

    Amen...

Streaming only and love it. It's nice to be able to pop a movie or TV show onto the computer here when I am working late at night. It helps keep me company as it gets lonely here sometimes.

Since this splitting of service doesn't include any price adjustments, I'll stick with it. When the new pricing plans were announced over the summer, we adjusted our plan from 3 DVDs + streaming to just 2 DVDs, which was overdue for us anyway.

Streaming only is still not an option since the offerings are still extremely slim. At least when it comes to new, mainstream films.

The poor working class family who can't afford stuff like Netflix constantly has to buy hard copies of something they really like and want to watch over and over.
I thought the same thing until I was informed of smartphones becoming the home computers of low income families. Pretty big in Brazil. Easy to watch movies and music on your phone.
Time to invest in battery manufacturing companies. LOL

Their new separate service...Qwikster...is just ridiculous, and a headache I don't want to deal with.

I'll keep doing it until just before my next billing next month.

I'll be getting my DVD's from Redbox from now on.
