My best friend is exactly like you, Lonnie...I've been hearing the same stuff from him since we were kids...35 years or so...and he's still at it.

He's still my best friend...so I don't mind it at all...I will not criticize you...because I don't do that to my friend.

The following is not an attack on you, or your beliefs...not at all...it's just my own personal take on this "doomsday" subject...that's all:

I have never been afraid of what might happen here on Earth...whether we are going to get hit by an asteroid or a comet...I don't trip on stuff like that...if it happens...it happens...nothing I can do about it...so why worry. I have at the most...another good 20 years of life...if I'm lucky...I'm not going to spend it being afraid or worrying on "end of the world" concepts.

I think we have bigger problems right now...like wars, poverty, hunger, diseases, etc...

Again...this is my take...not criticizing you...I respect your beliefs.

    No disrespect intended.

and if it does there is nothing we or anyone else can do about it. Getting all worked up over it and the President being in Denver on Sept. 27th and everything just isn't worth it. If it all goes to H E double hockey sticks it does.

Doomsday? Again with the doomsday? Where was that in what I ever wrote? Impact? I never wrote that either. It seems like others think they know my opinion. You do not. No earth ending or comet impact, and no 2012 end. It's not my opinion or what I've ever said. I think it's funny the end of the world B.S. that most think of when the "comet" and it's effect is mentioned.
So does anybody know anything about C/2010 X1?

Dude...I have been nothing but respectful to you...you seem a bit confrontational (to all of us posters here in this thread)...you need to chill out a bit.

Why do you get mad if some of us are unfamilar with C/2010 X1???

You read what I write with a different tone than it is written. I'm asking opinions of a subject that people aren't commenting on, but going on about "doomsday" instead. I'm trying to get opinions on a subject of interest to me and instead some refer to a religious nuts "rapture" nonsense. I don't see the connection between a space object that may not be a comet and the mentally unstable Harold Camping.
I'm still wondering if anybody has any knowledge or opinion on the celestial body known as C/2010 X1.
So let's cease all "end of days" and silly talk like that. Let religion not touch the subject of space with "rapture" nonsense. Chicken Little is not invited to the topic.

I see you added to your post after I was responding. I don't get mad about people not knowing. I do get somewhat annoyed at the false doomsday prophet accusations. To compare me to Harold Camping is very insulting.

I don't know why this thread is so threatening to people. I didn't start it to start drama.

I am aware of it. Doomsday cultists and conspiracy theorists have labled it the doomsday comet. Wild claims range from that it is the mythical planet "Nibiru", a cluster of alien space craft and a brown dwarf. It is none of those things.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'd like to see the verification on these facts. Any links? Coma width? Tail length? Pictures?

The last I heard, it was questionable it would survive perihelion. Did it make it?

That's a good question! That's what I'd like to know. They said it broke up, but it's still on the nasa website as it was. So if it broke apart it shouldn't still be there.
