    Anyone into Irish Music?

We just finished building a website for a client who recorded an album of Irish ballads and hymns. I also got it released on iTunes. The artist is John Moloney. I'm not really into Irish music, but it's pretty cool to see an album on iTunes that I put up there. And John is a really cool guy. MAJOR Irish accent and he never runs out of funny stories from the old country.

Close to the genre, I like Loreena McKennitt.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

        Me too!
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I like traditional Irish stuff, like Whiskey in the Jar. I've always thought that song could supply the plot for a decent film. I also find Scottish songs pretty cool. Although not traditional, Billy Connolly's "Glasgow" is a song that really is universal and seems evocative in a way you don't hear in music much anymore.

I like Loreena McKennitt, Celtic Woman, Lord of the Dance, etc.

I just wish that Loreena would come out with new stuff more often, instead of retreading her usual stuff in new arrangements.

Introduced to Clannad through the opening sequence of U2's Under A Blood Red Sky Live At Red Rocks VHS/Video. Just an amazing vocal and musical performance:

Enya is another that came out of Clannad.

Their eyes can't hope to see
                    The beauty that surrounds them

If you are talking non traditional Irish music...The Cranberries:

Here's how I became aware of the Chieftans...Through this Ultravox song featuring The Chieftans:

Another group would be Black 47. There are more that I know I am missing.
