    Car Mechanic Question

What should it cost to get my timing belt replaced? This is a preventative measure. It hasn't broken or anything. The mechanic I go to said that my car, Honda, LX, 1997, should get the belt changed when you near 100,000 miles, as per the manufacturer's recommendation.

Non dealership price; $500 - $750. Dealership price; Double that. Seriously. Timing belts are a real "B" to change out.

It's cheaper than letting it break and destroying your motor. I would get it fixed if it's time.
