Confession time: Do you know I have never sat down and watched a single episode of Space: 1999? It's true! I never saw a single episode.

I still love 'Breakaway' best of all.., if there's one ep to watch, it's that.

I was watching 'Alpha Child' a few nights ago on DVD and the 50" Plasma/Surroundsound. A few years ago, I had a friend put both years on Quicktime format for me, so I can just pop 'em on my iPod when I'm going out of town..

                      My favorite episodes ......

                      1. Dragon's Domain --- scary as hell

                      2. Seed of Destruction --- you can't go wrong with an evil Koenig

                      3. Space Warp --- great never seen before shots of the Eagle hangers

                      4. Voyager Returns

                      5. Earthbound --- so good, they made a Mego out of Christopher Lee

Agreed on those, Mikey.. My favs will always be the early ones, with just enough surrealism and spookiness, yet I kept falling asleep since they were only on at 10:30 CST on Saturday nights.., and I sat in bed to watch 'em..

I love all the Year One episodes, but here are some standouts.

                        1. Missing Link.. WONDERFUL use of shadows and dreary, dreamy sequences. Peter Cushing as Vaan was, like Christopher Lee, very subtle and cool, not quite evil, but eerie in nature, until you understand his stance. The first part was so.. surreal, because the sequences of Koenig walking back to Alpha, juxtaposed with him unconscious in the Eagle was lost on my feeble 12yr old mind. Very confusing.

                        2. Black Sun... The hands-down cast favorite.., Victor with the cigar and brandy.., Paul with the guitar, great camera angles watching Kano and Mathias playing chess. THAT'S what really made the difference in the first year, the eerie camera angles, and overall spookiness.

                        3) Ring Around the Moon... The coolest opening sequence with Ted Clifford, I usually show this to friends who never saw the show, to really encapsulate the feel of the first year in 3 minutes. Usually most folks don't remember the show, so I describe it as 'Twilight Zone' meets 'Outer Limits' in space, which helps to dispell the blank stares.

                        4) Full Circle.. A mid-season entry showing multiple Eagles on planet recon/rescue, and Sandra in furs..?? and

                        5) Darians.. Joan Collins, wearing about as much.

All those are good but don't forget

Force Of Life: An Alphan is possesed by an energy being with an insatable appetite for heat, especially from humans. Creepy not only for it's camera angles but it's use of slow motion.

Another Time, Another Place: A time rift creates a second paralell Moon and base and sends them both back to a lifeless Earth five years apart. Great sequence where Koenig and Carter investigate the other moonbase to find it deserted except for the dead bodies of the other Koenig and Carter.

But I love almost all of season one and like season 2 in a different way.

                            Space 1999... Good show.

I think the guy who created that series did some other stuff too...

So many good ones. I like the one where an alien race send numerous probes to reconstitute an atmosphere on the Moon.
