I remember when I was in High School we watched it on Sunday nights. But when I was a kid in the 70s, it came on Sunday afternoons.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
"Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."
When I was a kid it came on Saturday nights at 7:00. That is one variety show I would buy every season of were it available. Buck Owens is one of my all time country music favorites.
Never appreciated it when it was on, but my dad watched it every week. Saturday at 7:00 if I remember. I recall watching it the night it premiered on CBS as a summer replacement, we were at my uncle's house.
Now I'd watch it if we got it, but we don't. I know it's out there on one of those expensive subscription dvd deals they hawk on TV (you know, the ones you flip to by accident and watch for 5-10 minutes before you realize it's a commercial). They have the same thing for the Midnight Special.
Another show I'd love to see as a box set is The Gong Show.
I haven't checked for it lately, but I watched it as a kid. I remember watching the Roy Clark 5 play - I think they're the reason I like bluegrass and banjo music in general.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
Geez, I hated the show growing up.., since my Mom always had to watch it..
Then, in '93, I got cable with my house.., it was on the Nashville network for a turn, then it's gone. So now... I"m actually hunting for it..
The odd thing is, growing up with Pop/Rock, I now enjoy playing guitar.. and now I'd like to be 'that guy' seated at the dobro playing slide like on those old country tunes.. ?!?
So by reading this thread ... am I the only person here who gets the RFD channel ?
