First new Halloween item of the year...

Well, Walgreens is starting to faze out their Back-To-School stuff and bring in the Halloween stuff. Last night, I stopped off on the way home to get some milk, and saw a cute Hallmark "Monster Mash" sound book in the card section. Of course I had to get it. I also got a singing, light-up Scooby Doo card. Yeah, I know...I'm nuts.

Like I'm the ONLY one looking forward to Halloween?

Here in the Louisville area, the first Hallowe'en artifacts I saw starting popping up in BIG LOTS in mid-August. The big retailers are now starting to play catch-up. When I was in Wallyworld last night, they were starting to assemble their Hallowe'en aisle. I bought my first bag of Candy Corn (IMHO the "official" candy of Hallowe'en) about a week ago at Walgreen. Only Brach's though; the knock offs just taste like wax....!

    Yay Hallowe'en!!!!!!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

My daughter and her boyfriend (in college) got a job at the Halloween store in town. It's her first real job, sort of... I think it would have been cool if my first job was in a Halloween store. I would have been in heaven back in the day!

^^ I just took the kids to a Halloween store that opened near here this weekend. I should have expected it, but I'd say 80% of the store was geared towards adults and seemed a bit risque as well. We didn't stay in there very long.
                It's all good!

That's terrible. In my mind, Halloween will always be for kids, or for adults who wanna be kids again, even if only for one day. I miss the magic of walking into Woolworth's in the 70s, waiting for the Great Pumpkin to come on TV, doing the Halloween art projects at school...watching my older sister carve the pumpkin, getting my costume on for school...yeah.

You going to Star Wars Celebration this next Aug? It'll be at the OCCC again.

I've already got my costume planned

Halloween is my favorite time of year. I collect latex masks as well as action figures, so I'm always in the Halloween spirit. I go all out on the decorating every year to the point that my neighbors probably think I'm nuts. I was at my local Walgreens yesterday and snapped this picture. It doesn't fit in with my typical Halloween display, but it was still tempting. I may have to go back tomorrow and pick it up.
