car battery question

Quick question for you car people .........

My nephew accidently left his lights on in his car all day at work.

At the end of the day the battery was dead.

His buddy gave him a jump

It started right off and he drove home.

He's now worried tomorrow morning the battery will be dead again.

I told him I think it should be ok ...

I've heard same thing happen to other people and once the battery is recharged (from driving) it's good again.

What do yous think ?

depends on the battery overall. if it is still a good battery he should be fine. if it is at the end of its useful life anyway he may have a problem

From experience:

The car may or may not start in the morning due to cold weather issues(Pacific Northwest).

Ended up just buying a new battery since the battery was really old. Cheap route would be to recharge battery.

However, happened on a new battery and it drained for 8 hours. Got a jump, ran it for 30 minutes and haven't had a problem since.

I guess it depends on the acid in the core and how much it can still hold.

he should be alright, he should keep trying to start it up and letting it run for a few minutes every few hours

I just called him,

He got home and let it stand (turned off) for a half hour then tried starting it ..

He said it started right up
