For what would have been his 65th birthday. Pretty neat to check out.

Having said that...I have tons of respect for Brian May (lead guitarist)...the nicest guy in rock...a guy who never took a drug or got drunk...the guy is an intellectual genius...he has a PhD degree in both Physics and Mathematics..plus he wrote half of the Queen songs himself anyway.
May is the Chancellor at Liverpool John Moores University...

I have mad respect for May.
As much as I like John Deacon and Roger Taylor (drummer)...Queen is Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
I think he has the right to continue as Queen...Freddie would've liked it.sigpicComment

yeah, it's just not the same. I agree that May can do whatever he wants but to me Queen is a group only with he and Freddie... Any other configuration is just a cover band; close but no cigar.Comment

Thanks jwyblejr, for bringing this anniversary to our attention, it would have slipped past me otherwise. It's hard to imagine that Mr. Mercury would have turned 65 this year, and even harder to believe that he has been gone for nearly 20 years.
Queen is my all-time favorite Rock band, and IMO, Queen died on November 24, 1991. I have not heard any material from, nor seen any performances by the remaining members + Rodgers, and I have no desire to do so. After Made In Heaven was released, I stopped keeping tabs on what the rest of the band was up to.
Every now & then I check in to see if any "new" live performances of the original band have been made available on DVD.Comment

Man I also like some of the Queen jams and there some many speculation of the band.... but heck they rocked for there time and today as well! One concert I would have like to been to as well as a Pink Floyd,The Doors, etc. Even the Queen concert DVD's kick arse with the surround sound blasting. They are one of a kind band!Comment

timeless classics. Brian May is one of a kind too. the shows they have done with paul rogers are good as well, if for nothing else than as a tribute to Freddy. the world truly lost a an icon when Freddy died.Comment

I never said it was the same...not did I say I preferred or was OK with Rodgers as Queen's frontman...please...snap out of it, guys...lol.
I never went to a Rodgers' led Queen concert...nor have I bought any of those records.
I'm as big Queen as they come (my favorite band of all times)...I have all their records (except with Rodgers)...went to three of their concerts...first one way back in 77 (I was about 15, lol)...then the following year in 78...and the last one in 82.
But I don't agree that Queen died when Freddie Mercury died...that's being disrespectful to Brain May.
Is it the same Queen?
Of course not...come on now...lol.
But like nostalgiabuff said...I see it as a nice tribute band as well.
Yes...it's not the same...it will never be the same...but as long as Brian May is still breathing...it is fully his band...and he has every right to continue...he loved Freddie more than anybody here...the dude is already rich beyond imagination, he's a college professor...so obviously his motivation is not money or prestige...it's his love for music, his love for Queen...and mostly...his love for Freddie.
Amen...sigpicComment
