    Boxer Posts Mego on Facebook

So, I had a facebook chat with former WBC light heavyweight champion Donny Lalonde earlier tonight. As we talked, I told him a funny story about how I made a custom Lalonde figure out of a mego Bo Duke, etc.

He said he'd love to see a picture and that his wife and kid were laughing about it. So, I snapped a pic and posted it on his wall.

I thought it was pretty cool that one of the few fighters in boxing history to actually drop Sugar Ray Leonard has a mego custom posted on his facebook wall.

Nice! Sounds real cool. Can you post the pic here? Lalonde almost had Leonard, but he gassed to early on in his fights. Tough game dude though.

Funny you mentiond the chat on FB, just a week or so ago I chatted with Gerry Cooney, we went to the same High School and he lived like 2 miles from me, used to see him all the time back in the 80's and 90's. He too was game but didnt have the talent of a Holmes.

Saying almost is a bit of a stretch...sure Lalonde landed some really good ones, and even knocked Leonard down in the fourth (like Brown Bear said), and again rocked him in the ninth. But what do legends do in this kind of adversity? They come back right back...and right after he got hurt by Lalonde...just seconds after that...Leonard knocks him out.

But it sure was a very competitive fight...it was not picnic for Leonard...that's for sure.

Having stamina is part of boxing...Lalonde got beat fair and square by an older and smaller man in Sugar Ray Leonard.

By Lalonde was very game...and landed some really good shots...so he gets massive kudos from me....plus he got paid six million dollars for the fight...not too shabby.

Here's the fight if some people are curious...

BTW...for all its worth...I was rooting for Lalonde...I used to hate Leonard's guts back in the day...I was a Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, and Tommy Hearns fan...I was the anti-Leonard fan...lol.
