I just watched this on Blu Ray had not seen it in years all I can is Wow! This Film defined my generation .They dont make them make like this anymore!
I totally recommend a rewatch!
Ok bear with me now octogenarians....I JUST saw Diner for the first time. I do NOT see what the big deal was. It was Breakfast Club light. The only thing I learned from the movie is Fries and Gravy. The Breakfast Club is lightyears away from this movie.
I was Judd Nelson in HighSchool. .... Detention, Weed, Hair , JeanJacket , Rich Girlfriend and All. .... I dunno if I got very far as a result....., perhaps shoulda kept the Rich Girlfriend.

... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
I like the Breakfast Club, but gotta say that Hughes gets a little heavy handed with the whole teen angst/alienation thing towards the final act. A bit hokey, IMO. I much prefer Sixteen Candles which treads very similar waters but in a more subtle (and always funny!) manner.....
I'd agree with Matt on this one. 16 Candles definitely took itself less seriously and worked a bit better, but I still enjoyed Breakfast Club.
Its funny, as a kid I liked Breakfast Club but did think was a bit too idealized. Now, however, as I look at it through the warmth of nostalgia, it seems to really capture that teen experience

Totally Agree......Gedde Watanabe as Long Duk Dong is a scene stealer....that movie is a gem from the 80's
im probably the minority but i always thought it was a yuppie movie, as was sixteen candles. at the time i thought spaceball was much better, lol. Watching it now it doesnt bother me as much i wouldnt mind having the soundtrack. i bet theres a bunch of 80s films i havent seen in years and forgotten that i would like much better now...
I enjoy THE BREAKFAST CLUB and SIXTEEN CANDLES, but I think my preference is more toward SIXTEEN CANDLES simply due to the fact that there are a s**tload of hilarious characters in SC. I love Anthony Michael Hall's unnamed geek as well as his two companions, I crushed big time on Molly Ringwald (when I first saw the movie), and, of course, who can ever forget Long Duk Dong. THIS movie, by and large, is probably my fave John Hughes film with FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF coming in second (the whole bus scene at the end is a riot), then would come WEIRD SCIENCE, THE BREAKFAST CLUB, etc. He is a man whose talent has been imitated, but never duplicated.....
P.S. I JUST remembered---Anthony Micheal Hall's character's name was Ted. Usually Farmer Ted....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
Is it possible to hear "Don't you forget about me..." without seeing the end of this movie play out in your mind. I can't think of another song that is so closely tied to the memory of a movie. I hear it and I'm back in highschool.
