    The Chuck Heston dystopian trifecta

As a kid, my mind sort of tied together three Charlton Heston movies that were on TV a lot in the mid 70's as coming from the same tree.

    Planet Of The Apes
    The Omega Man
    Soylent Green

Each had the hapless Chuck Heston dealing with 3 versions of the end of the world (though it took until the end of POTA to figure hay out completely).

    Chuck sure had it rough

If he had just lived a few more years, he would have seen Soylent Green coming into the market, (sparkly) Vampires overrunning the earth, and the Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

I've heard another member refer to these films as the holy trinity of Charlton Heston, and this is is in fact how I think of these classics.

That's pretty cool. I think Omega Man could've used some better directing, (example:the helicopter scene). If so I think it would have been a bigger hit.

            The Heston Trilogy

I have always refferred to these together as the Heston Trilogy. It's funny to realize that i wasn't the only one, and that i didn't come up with that solely by myself.Ha HA.

I've always thought they were a great boxed set.

I like Omega Man and Soylent Green but I never thought they were in the same league as Apes.

I've never seen Soylent Green. Now I must watch it.

I watched "omega man" about a year ago for the first time, just somehow always slipped past me. I didnt realise that "I am legend" was a remake of this, I was very surprised.

I grew up with these, on German TV. You haven't lived until you've seen Chuck kick butt in German...

In those days, there were no VHS tapes here, so my buddy and I used to tape the sound from the TV, and "listen to the movies" like in the golden days of radio...
                        .
                        .
                        .
"When things are at their darkest, it's a brave man that can kick back and party."

I agree but I am talking about how I thought about these movies as a kid. If there was a movie about a askew future, Chuck would be in it.
