First LaserDisc interactive game. Spent many a day trying to play that game in the Gameroom in the South Shore Mall.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
I was actually working in a game room when this was out. I can't stand games that are simply memorization. Same moves all the time. they sent us the Space Ace conversion but directions from the owners were to not transfer it until sales on the Dragon's Lair game reached a certain low point. Basically you paid however much $$ to figure out all the right moves and then you would stop playing. They change the disc, re-label the case, and it starts all over again. There was a helicopter game that they did the same thing with. Name escapes me. Once you figure out the moves you swap everything and I think the heli became a fighter jet. Same style game, different story and characters, with new move combinations. Perfect money making scheme.
Oh yeah. MIB41 and I spent many an evening at Putter's Palace in Oxmoor Center playing various videos games (we loved Spy Hunter and Gyruss) and then, when they brought in the Dragon's Lair game, everyone in the place's jaw just dropped to the floor. At the time, it was like the end-all, be-all of video games. Probably still be pretty cool to play a round or two....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
I remember back then if i ran out of quarters at the arcade dragons lair would usually end up being what i watched people play while i waited. It had very nice animation but i could never get the hang of it and really would rather just chunk my money into ms pacman or a pinball game. Don Bluth is alsome though. I remember saturday supercade really well. I think this is the cartoon that had the worse ratings of the group. I thought it was ok but Donkey Kong was one of my favorites on saturdays, lol
I loved DL! Mastered it at the local Putt-Putt. Dropped many a coin while learning the moves. Played it so much I ended up dating the assistant manager, a cute little blonde. Not sure if I initially went there for the game or her . . . Thanks for the trip down memory lane
Never cared for this one.... until I got that home DVD version. At the time I was obsessed with "Cliff Hangers;" little knowing it was based on a tv/movie series.
Beautiful animation. Much better cartoon than it was a game. Fun to watch but not terribly fun to play.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
