    Another root canal

Yesterday while in second period I couldn't take the pain any more. I left school and went to my dentist to discover I have an absessed tooth. Monday I get ANOTHER root canal. Iv'e had 6 already. You would think that modern technology and medicine would have a better solution to infected teeth than opening them up and scraping out the pulp. Also, these dang things are expensive!! With the crown and with insurance only paying half It's $940! Needless to say my dentist likes me.

Been there. I've never had any pain worse than an absessed tooth! I had to get a crown about 3 years ago and it ran $500! I feel for you!

Tell the dentist to save as much as the tooth as he can, so you can wait on the crown. I think the crown for a root canal is a jip. I had a root canal about ten years ago, the dentist saved as much of the tooth as she could and filled it with a regular filling. She told me I would need a crown with in a year, I finally got the crown three months ago.

Ouch......dentists are the worse kind of sadists...they hurt you physically and in the wallet...If I ever get enough courage to go to the dentists it would be to pull all my teeth and get dentures/falsies so I never have problems again.

To get rid of the tooth pain I'd pay any price for a root canal. I'm averaging one a year now, so I feel for ya.

I guess I've been lucky! I've only ever had two cavities in my entire life, let alone any root canals.

Hope you feel better soon John!

Isn't that because people in Arkansas only have two teeth on average?

                  Just messing with you!!!

Why does it seem that the people who fear the dentist the most have he worst teeth? You would think they would take extra care of their teeth.

I learned the hard way that going to the dentist on a regular basis pays in the long run. I like going to the dentist now. The floride treatment is like a massage for your teeth, it feels great!!!

Hey, I'm originally from Illinois, where we have all our teeth!

I think some people just genetically have bad teeth. I mean, sure, there are people who just don't take care of themselves, but... take my wife and I for example. She's had two or three root canals and many cavities over her life, and she brushes as much as I do and is much better about flossing than I will ever be, and yet I've had much less teeth problems. Sometimes, it's just a roll of the dice.

I'm afraid I will be walking the same path. My back molar which already had a root canal is acting up. I can't really chew anything hard on that side. I'm not looking forward to it and it looks like I have no choice. I'm afraid to see the bill since insurance won't cover it since I just got a root canal on just last year.

It was an abcessed eyetooth that made understand why it's called that- HOLY CRAP! The facial nerves connected to it made me cry off and on, on that side, right up to my eye, until root canal#3. I feel your pain!!!!!
