It is a true shame that the guy is in failing health. On the bright side it appeared as if the guy did what he really enjoyed doing. That is a big plus.

I am not a record aficionado although I have a friend that collects and loves them dearly.

Yes, Space, storage and moving factors all have a cost associated with ANY collection. Therefore, they should be factored in by the potential buyer with the purchase price.

There is a place here in Saint Louis called The Record Exchange. The guy (which he is very cool btw) literally bought a library to hold all of his records in.

Obviously $3 million was too much (the Ebay buyer turned out to be fake)...that's why no takers so far.

Look, the guy has health problems and is almost 70 years old.

He could realistically sell his collection for a lot less (I dunno, a million, less, what do I know)......someone will bite....and it will benefit him financially....so he can retire in peace.

He's obviously asking too much at this time....the proof is in the lack of interest.

I just bought a new receiver at a yard sale for $20 (worth around $300):

So I'm on a record kick again. Before toys, records were my thing...but I've hardly bought any CD's or LPs at since.

Anyway, I bet I could go through his entire collection and find nothing. I bet he has hardly any Metal or Punk in that stuff.

Great story. I don't know, maybe I just heard it wrong but I could swear that he said he never sold his last copy of ANY record. If that's the case, and going by the volume of what he has, there still has to be tons of rare and cool LPs and singles there including the good stuff like vintage punk, blues, etc. Of course I could be wrong but I would love to see an inventory list of what he has. I will say I agree with him that digital music can't hold a candle to analog vinyl. Especially on a real nice, vintage set up with an old tube amp and vintage speakers.

That brought a tear to my eye. I love my records, and play them all the time. It's really sad that the heyday of the vinyl record is dead. I hope his collection gets sold, even if it has to be parcelled out to various people, and donated to causes that would appreciate them, like school, libraries and museums.

As an aside, did you notice those 45 rom record keepers behind his wife? My brother had one of those. Truly cool.

I notice the EXODUS-BONDED BY BLOOD album in the crate! Nice!.."STRIKE OF THE BEAST!!" Notice the SAMHAIN in the other crate.

Yea I was wondering the same thing to but with a million albums im quite sure he has some rare metal and punk stuff. Some rare NWOBHM singles would be nice to find.

That looks like a very nice pick up you landed there. I know nothing about that kind of stuff other than how to plug it in and turn the power on.

A buddy of mine who is more inclined in the nostalgia could probably tell me everything about that piece. I am sure that he would love it.

He has stuff like that stacked up in his living room he is such a die hard collector. It is nice to see that there is still love out there for some of the oldies but goodies.

Since the short documentary was made 3 years ago, is there any sort of update?
