    Anyone going to DragonCon?

This is our first year going. After hearing about it for years, we decided to cut back on some other conventions and participate in D*C at least once. We're putting together an MST3k costume group. If anyone else will be there, let me know so we can try and meet up.
    Welcome to Dragon*Con! - Welcome to Dragon*Con!

I gave a couple of talks there last year. I love it, but the cost is just too much. You'll have a blast.

I haven't been since the mid nineties when my company was an exhibitor. IT's really, really cool but can be overwhelming. You've never seen a larger group of cosplay, and some of these people truly believe they are their characters. I shared an elevator with RA Salvatore as he narrowly escaped a mob of fans. Fun stuff.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

It doesn't seem to be as big a media event as San Diego, but I know that it's costume-heavy. That's one of the reasons I want to go at least once. I was not prepared for how huge San Diego was, but now I feel more prepared.

I've thought about going, but the 3 hour drive is some what discouraging. Last time I went was '95 after I graduated, and it was a blast! I might go, but I really haven't made up my mind yet.

If DragonCon is around this year...With all the talk of the economic collapse...I am not so sure.

Won't be there this year, but DragonCon is awesome. It's now spread over five hotels so plan accordingly, and you should have a great time, especially with it being your first.

It's already scheduled in less than a month.

This will be my third one.

You will definitely have a blast, though.

A little bit of advice, though:

                  1. Make sure you stay hydrated with plenty of water, and carry snacks on you at all times.

                  2. Don't eat the macaroni and cheese in the food court. It's dreck.

                  3. Get on line for your ID badge EARLY! This way you beat the crowd.

                  4. Do NOT pay upwards of 100 dollars for an autograph, no matter who it is. 35 - 50 is the most you should pay for one.

                  5. Make sure you take breathers in between seminars and lectures.

                  6. If you're taking small children or babies with you, take plenty of diapers and baby wipes.

                  7. Be on the lookout for the Marriott hotel restaurant; the food is good, but waaaaay overpriced.

That's about all I can think of, if anyone else can think of anything, chime in.

Wish I could go. Would love to get my ape on again. Too far though from Ape City.

                    Have fun, Amy!!

Would love to go to this as much as I'd like to get to the Chicagocon this year, but sadly neither one shall be realized. There's always 2012, though, since the world isn't scheduled to end until December....!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

We're planning to check out some restaurants we saw on Food network, like the one run by Gladys Knight.
