to open or not to open? I can't seem to let myself do it

Hey guys, well i bought the lot of 6 sealed AJ outfits from castaway toys, got them yesterday and they're freakin awesome...so i bought a lot of AJ's to dress them up, the figures are loose but 2 brought the boxes...If anyone knows me, they know I can't open anything vintage, I don't why I just can't I know the outfits are cheap but it still hurts, just knowing that they've been sealed for 40 years

    what would you guys do?

I completely understand. I have actually traded some sealed stuff for a loose version just so I wouldn't have to open something.

HOWEVER... I did buy doubles of all my AJ outfits so I could open some. Even then it was hard, but once you do it and start dressing them, its like Christmas morning 1974!

They're your toys. Do what ever makes you happy and it's not like those AJ suits are exactly rare or anything. You open your set and there's a ton of them out there still sealed. Opening your set won't even make a dent.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Life's too short to worry about opening vintage items

Just dive in there and rip em all open - and have a good time doing it

I can open it for you. I open eveything! If I can't hold it in my hands, then I don't own it. I still remember people's horror when I got my MIB 12" mego Zod and opened him up immediately.

I usually only buy loose vintage items because I can't bear to open them, but I ordered the AJ sets and I will open them. It may take me a few days, but I'll open them.

Try one, and I bet that will help break down your psychological barrier. The others will come easier then. I do think lack of rarity plays a significant role here.

I always think: what is the main function of the object?
In this case, it's clothing. Clothing needs to be worn. It isn't even appealing, squashed down on a card.
I would hesitate if it's super rare (in which case I might sell it to buy something else), but I would basically remove them, enjoy that great feeling of opening something, checking it out, and then admiring it on your figures.

We get so hooked on "collectible, rare, MIB", that we forget the main idea behind the object. I have some Lone Rangers outfits still on the card, and when my Butch Cassidy arrived on my doorstep totally nude, I felt great giving him a minty fresh outfit!
                              .
                              .
                              .
