    Steroids in Baseball

With the Mitchell Report due to be released shortly, I figured this topic was going to be started soon enough.

So far Roger Clemens and Andy Pettite have already been leaked, but rumors have it that there may be hundreds of names, including MVP's and Cy Young award winners (besides those two).

Since so much has been made about Barry Bonds, do we now need to put an asterisk on all of these players, or just put an asterisk on the entire modern era of baseball.

Maybe we should make all the players accused on this list testify before a grand jury as well. This is why I don't think Barry Bonds record should mean any less than anyone else's recently.

    Let the games begin.

I think it's an indictment on the entire sport. We had a sport that years ago was losing legions of fans because people were tired of seeing these pampered, spoiled, athletes constantly demanding to strike for more money while they grew bigger bellies standing in the outfield contributing nothing to the game. The sport needed a boost. It needed an event. It needed to evolve into incredible athletes breaking decade old records...enter steroids. New stars were born, fans returned to see old records fall and the league turned a blind eye to what they clearly knew was the reason. The fans are back, the reasons for it's sudden rise in stars and all of those fallen records are now obvious, and the league is exposed for orchestrating this farce. Business has never been better. Now it has to cover it's rear...enter the Mitchell report. May the farce be with you...

No one outside North America, the Caribbean, Venezuela, and Japan, gives a crap about baseball.

So the world will still rotate nicely just fine.

It's really a shame that a sport with so much history and so many legends has come to this

I've been following Baseball very closely since 1973, yes I sure have, and today is the darkest day in Baseball history since the 1919 Chicago WhiteSox scandal.... The whole situation is so sad.. That's all I got to say..

I can't believe that Bret Boone is not on that list. If anybody was hitting the roids in 2001 it was him. Look at his stats fro 99 with a comparable number of at bats. The number changes are stagering. Plus the guy was second baseman.

The steroids certainly didn't help Eric Gagne's pitching last year.

No real surprises. All of the major names have been linked in stories before, but it's still shocking to see a guy like Clemens in print. Of course, he is the pitching eqivalent of Bonds. A guy who was already great that really cemented his legacy by dominating for several years past when normal players have passed their primes. It's all a shame.

Hasn't roids really helped the Baseball Sport ? I mean before the Mcguire/Sosa home run race, Baseball was dying.. There was no excitment left in the game. With Roids, Baseball has become more exciting than ever imo.

That is what the media is saying; they looked the other way because baseball was dying, ans Sosa, McGuire, and Bonds help save the game.

Atleast the other guy who helped save baseball, Cal Ripken, is not on the list.
