Mego Museum mentioned on Pawn Stars!!!!

guy selling a ton of Trek stuff. Pulls out the Trek Megos, and tells them about megos, then he says, there is even a Mego Museum.

    Too Cool

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

        I just saw it...pretty cool.

Yes...he had nice carded Star Trek Megos in acrylic cases...most of his collection were newer stuff (his Pruis was full of Trek figures)...but the attraction is that a lot of them were signed by the actors...he wanted $14,000...the pawn dudes brought in a toy expert...and he a gave it a $8,000 to $9,000 estimate...so after a few offer and counter offers...they agreed on $6,100...and a deal was struck...the dude said he needed the money for his wedding.

And yes...he did mentioned the Mego Museum...that was awesome...

I taped it so will watch it tonight. I had to be the dutiful husbands and watch "The Bachelorette" finale with my wife

The one positive that I can think of shows like "The Bachelorette" is it helps me fall asleep way before my normal bedtime.

Yeah I thought he did.....he settled way to much. had a lot of nice signed pieces
The Pawn Star guys always drive down the price because if they buy it they need to make money off it.....

Do you guys think that when you bring items to a dealer that you should receive full retail price for the items? If the expert appraisal was accurate at 8-9K what do you guys think a fair price would be to pay for resale. Just curious.

Anyway, great plug for the Museum!

I think value and rarity play a big amount of the price ...

                      Totally made up example

                      A Mego GWS

A reseller may want a discount so he can resell and make a profit, but that's probably not going to happen.

This kind of item usually don't get in dealers hands

People would much rather sell to their neighbor and get a more fair price

The Pawn Shop guys Gennerally A) bring in a Autograph expert to make sure the autographs are for real and B) they usually ask for a C.O.A on signed items,, and they didnt. I found the Pawn guys on Wbay, I saw the figures, priced and sold at low prices, noone even said anything about the autographes.
                          any thoughts?

Yes the guy definately got hosed, he should have just dealt with ChumLee to get more and for that lowball offer he should have at least kept the megos and let all the playmates stuff go. It was awesome to here him talk about the museum, is that guy a member here?

On just about any collectible show I have watched Pawn Stars, Pickers, Hardcore Pawn, etc.; they always are looking to buy around 50% of market value. It might sound low but they do have overhead and are now taking on the risk of reselling, letting it sit on their shelves, having to discount it, etc. They also pay cash on the spot. This seller could have sold the items on Ebay and made more but chose for whatever reason not to go that route. The Pawn Star guys are always getting a bad rap for lowballing but the seller does not have to sell plain and simple.
