    I miss farmer's markets

It's summer Sunday's like this that remind me of how many farmer's markets we used to have around here back in the day.

As of this year, we now basically have none.

    It's a shame too.

Now, if you want fresh veggies, fruit, ethnic meats and homemade baked items you're up poop creek.

I vist the Amish market almost every weekend when in PA without fail, I usually bring a cooler and stock up on whatever is in season, bring it back home and freeze any excess...

Here in seattle almost every satellite neighborhood has one every summer and some have them year around. Then we have Pike Place market.
What also has gotten big are neighborhood P-Patches.

Yeah, we're getting more & more of them in central Ohio. Unfortunately, they've become 'trendy,' so it's harder to find traditional farmers selling cheap veggies. Still, I picked up a Cherokee Purple tomato yesterday that was so good I wanted to cry.

We have a farmer's market downtown every Friday...but from what I hear their stuff is often higher priced than what you'd find in the grocery store.

Ace Hardware holds a farmer's market in it's parking lot every Sunday...

Over here we have a farmers market every Wednesday and Saturday in the town centre, some stuff is more expensive than the supermarket but it tastes loads better.

There's one within walking distance of my house every Saturday. I go once in awhile. There's all kinds of veggies, fruits, nuts, chicken, kettle corn, sausages, bounce houses for the kids, and I think there's even a balloon artist, (y'know, the guy who makes balloons into animals). It's ALWAYS packed.

There's suppose to be a big one in Birmingham. Never been though. I usually go to the one in Decatur.

I don't really think of the one down the road as a farmer's market, but some of the same vendors set up shop at "Saturday's Market" every week. There's another market in downtown Harrisburg, but I haven't been there. I know they have fresh sandwiches and stuff, but I don't know if they have the traditional fruit stands. There's another really good one, about an hour away in Ephrata, called the Green Dragon. Except around holidays when the traffic is insane, there's nothing better than getting out of work early on a Friday and heading over there for dinner and looking around.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
