    The Mist

Sorry if there was a thread about this before; I know the movie has been out awhile, but I just saw it tonight and I have to say:

Wow! One of the all time great horror films has arrived! The Mist is intelligent, powerful, character-driven horror. The characterizations are spot-on, the effetcs are amazing, and the insight into human behavior is perfect. It's also damn unsettling.

Without giving anything away, let me just say this: Be glad this is just a movie. Because the premise is freaking horrifying. Enough said.

Now go see it... and prepare to squirm in your seat!

The only similarity between "The Fog" and "The Mist" is...well...the mist. That's where the similarities end.

I saw it with my 13 year old, and he squirmed in his seat the whole time. Lots of suspense and the "story-within-a-story" is great as well.

I would recommend it too if you like to be scared.

        Hey,
Haven't seen the movie yet, but the short story is amazing.
Quick synopsis without giving anything away - Father and son go to the grocery store. While there, a thick fog rolls in (this is Maine, of course), and all the power goes out. Something is out in the fog, unknown, unseen but deadly. While trying to fight off the 'things' in the fog, the people trapped in the store start to interfight as humanity starts to bear it's ugly side.
Truely a great story, and I hear that the movie does it justice.

It's always been one of my favourite Stephen King stories, I've lost count of how many times I've read it. It sounds like the movie is pretty good (no mean feat for a King adaptation, but at least this director has some previous experience in doing good film adaptations of King's work). I really want to see it but haven't gotten around to it yet.
