Wow, the death of a legend. Few people are aware that his 1951 song, Rocket 88, was the first recording to use distorted electric guitar (from Turner's own instrument). He was a true rock pioneer!Comment

Somehow, I seriously doubt that he will REST IN PEACE.
It's great that he help launch Tina's career, but I have to say, I'm not the least bit sorry to see him pass on. The jerk probably died from pure meaness."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

If I were Huedell, I'd throw a fit and complain how the man is dead and you shouldn't say bad things.
But in reality, now is the perfect time to discuss the life and work of Ike Turner. Yes he was a a wife beater. A drug abuser. And from most accounts a real son of a beach. But that said, his influence on Rock n' Roll, R&B, Soul and Funk--basically the most popular music forms of post war America--is undeniable. Yes he was an extremely flawed individual but damned if he wasn't responsible for some great music.....Comment

When they got to SUN studio they found the amp had that fuzzy sound, and decided to go with it,
If you ever take the SUN tour, in Memphis, they have that amp on display.
Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?Comment

(saying I was "throwing a fit" etc.) for speaking up for Kevin DuBrow--
--speaking up in the face of obnoxious comments around Kevin's death
---comments that made me ashamed I posted on this board
Speaking of "obnoxious"
There's nothing obnoxious about saying Ike Turner was a woman beater
whose music I really didn't care for----that's just fact (and a sad one at
that) and, heck I wouldn't have even said ANYTHING if I didn't see you
mention my name, thus baiting me"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
