    An Introduction ~

    & Greetings Fellow Collectors ~

Recently I have been giving an opportunity to visit far off and distant lands and have decided to take advantage of the offer. That being said I am divesting myself of everything I own and pulling up stakes.

To that end I am looking to give my beloved childhood toys a new and proper home. As each one is priceless to me, it is difficult for me to estimate their value. I have been looking around the Mego forums and I did my best to price things accordingly.

While many of the items are in very good shape they all have been “pre-loved” by me, in my youth. I will do my best to highlight the good and the not so good facts as to accurately represent them.

This weekend I will finish up picture taking and item description and I will start listing items on Monday. Any advice or suggestion will be happily accepted.

I am breaking them into groups

    Star Trek
    POTA TV/Movie
    Playset
    Super Heroes
    Super Villains

    NON-Mego
    G.I. Joe items
"Like all living things, each according to his gifts."

    Welcome and Hello...

Hope your opportunity grants you much happiness, but I hope that you'll take at least a few things with you from your collection, as rememberances of home and good times!

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing what you will have available...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

The best way to list these is in the marketplace section. Take a picture of them in groups, give brief descriptions of each figure or playset (mainly condition of the item), above or below the picture -- and your price and terms (paypal, money orders, etc.). Make sure you include either a shipping price or the fact that shipping is included in the price.

You can use photobucket to upload the pictures. Then just copy and past the url into the ad.

Welcome to the museum - and bon voyage!

              Megospidey ~

Thank you very much for the information. I think I have much of what you suggest done; pictures ready to post, detailed in formation in a spreadsheet (i.e. condition, flaws, if anything is missing), boxes with which to ship,

Ideally what I would like to do is auction them off, going to the highest bidder. I am parting with these only because I am leaving for the far side of the globe (in 40days, 8hrs, 29min and an odd number of seconds - but who is counting) for a minimum of 100 days and with no real plan to come back. I would like to make sure these cherished memories from my childhood are well cared for by going to a person(s) who will appreciate them as I do/did. Moreover, on a more practical plane, this will help me start the next grand chapter of my life. I look at this as a win/win for everyone concerned.

My real issue is pricing. To me as a collection it is priceless, having said that, I am not so much of a romantic that I blinded to the reality that while these items are only worth what someone is willing to pay for the. Truthfully, I do not want to gouge nor exploit anyone. I am looking for fair market value. (plus shipping ) I was going to take price examples from; This Site, EBay & worthpoint.com to set a price. (Shipping would be set by the post office.) Unless there is a better place to find out what the market value is.

Again, any help, suggestion and/or guidance will be happily accepted.

              Thank you

LOVE the Tilda, most don't even know what is called, let alone use it.

So your advice it post the pictures and later set the price? Seems odd, but do-able

I think so, I mean post them here or the market place. You will at get the general price point that way and may sell some right here and you'll be able to list on ebay with a decent idea of what to expect.

I can post them there, without having to sell them? I didn't understand that to be the case. If that is true, I will do that tonight

                        Thank you.

                          Hiya No,

a little bit of legwork on ebay will get you a general idea of what going prices are for your figures. Looks like you have all but the titans and Isis in your list. I am going to assume they are all in complete and good condition. Some will fetch more than others - say Thor and Conan will fetch more than Mxy.

But really, a little bit of time searching completed auctions on ebay will give you a ballpark. If you want to sell them fast, price them 20-30% lower than your ballpark. If you want to get the most out of them, be prepared to sit on them a bit. If you are looking to sell all in one lot, again, you will take a little bit of a hit on overall $$ as most folks buy lots in bulk in order to save a bit.

good luck with it - and happy travels.

One last thought: You could always post pics up along with your email address (your pm box will not hold that many messages since you are a new member) and indicate that you are taking offers. Lots more reading and replying and decision work there, but that is doable. We don't really do auctions on the marketplace, tho. You could put them all up on ebay and post a link to the auction in "Auction Watch". Again, best of luck.
