Is there a service available for First Class/Priority International that is recognized by PayPal in the event a buyer overseas opens a claim? Delivery Confirmation not being available for First Class/Priority Mail International is one of the main reasons I have stop selling internationally. It's not worth the hassle, but I do know I'll make more cash if I start again.

Even these services are sometimes subject to other terms, since many countries don't register the actual delivery, just when it entered customs, or sometimes only when it leaves US Customs. Very few countries actually work with the USPS' signature confirmation service, so even if you purchase Express mail, it may not get signed for and Paypal still might not allow your claim.
It's happened to me more than once back when I sold on eBay, and even when I requested and provided Paypal with a verification of delivery by that Country's postal service, they'd still side with the buyer. Sometimes even after he'd left positive feedback and sent emails stating the item was received, but later had buyer's remorse.
If they file a chargeback, rather than go through Paypal/eBay's resolution service, it's usually a little more grim since, depending on the reason they list for the chargeback, Paypal may choose not to defend you at all.
On the other hand, eBay does have a section with seller's tools and services. I can't remember the name right now, but in there somewhere there is a service that offers insurance on international packages, even for first class international. That way even if Paypal steals your money, you'll get your money back through the insurance.
Otherwise, you just end up paying out the $30+ dollars for international Priority Mail.Join us Live at our next live-Auction event! and bid on all your favorite toys! Real Auctions. Real Auctioneers. Real Great deals on the Toys You Want! -
It was once explained to me that Paypal does not recognize ANY method of shipping via the USPS for overseas transactions. In the event of a chargeback overseas, the only tracking number they will accept that will give the seller a fighting chance is Fed Ex, UPS or DHL etc. etc. The problem is all those methods are VERY expensive and of course overseas buyers NEVER want to pay those shipping rates.......Comment

There have been other times, though, that they wouldn't back me up even on Express Mail, and they *never* do on First Class since it won't track at all outside the country. Paypal wants to keep as much money as it can, so I imagine it's similar with the other shippers, but it's definitely a crap shoot with USPS.Join us Live at our next live-Auction event! and bid on all your favorite toys! It really depends how much selling you do on eBay. Yes, there is risk when sending to other countries. However, IMO the risk is rather small. I couldn't imagine not selling to other countries--many of my auctions ONLY have interest from international bidders. In the long run I make more money by doing business internationally--even if I have the occasional problem with an international order.Comment

Can you purchase insurance for First Class International packages at the post office? The option is not on the USPS website for FCI only Priority.
I'm going to offer International again and just hope for the best. In all honesty, most of the problems I've had were with people with low feedback...so I try to exclude those bidders.Comment

The most irritating aspect of overseas sales is that on one hand eBay/Paypal (they're the same company!) really try to encourage sellers to offer SUPER LOW shipping quotes. But on the other hand, in the event of a chargeback they only recognize tracking numbers FROM THE MOST EXPENSIVE METHOD OF SHIPMENT! Total mixed signals if you ask me.
You must proceed from the vantage point that MOST people are honest and good. And like I said earlier, I've been selling consistently on eBay for 12 years and in my experience the risk in selling to international bidders is pretty low. Totally worth the cost of doing business!Comment

I wish an auction site that deals strictly in toys would come along and take over eBay. I know there is a million and people have tried it in the past, so it's just wishful thinking. Buyers love eBay, so there is no need to go to other sites. Unless everyone revolted against eBay, but I don't see that happening.
I am burning with anger tonight when I see what they took in fees off me.
This taking fees out of shipping MUST BE STOPPED! That's such a BS excuse they have for it, "to encourage sellers to offer lower shipping". HOW is that doing that? So how is that fair to us, when we charge exact shipping?
This was the first week when I just posted stuff and let it ride....without thinking too much about figuring in fees/packing material, etc...when I did that before, nobody bought or bid.Comment
