A few guys gave Holmes trouble. Bonecrusher, Carl Williams, and s**** are the three I remember. Tucker was also a guy who could have shined if he had the dedication.

You know the crop of 80's heavweights were not as bad a people say.

Tony Tubbs- great technically but always out of shape.
Bonecrusher- Turned pro at 28, would have been awesome if he started earlier.
Withersppon- Great power and a good fighter. Don King destroyed his career.

I always have to wonder what might have been with Buster Douglas. That right there is a real shame.

Razor Ruddock was not too shabby either...big left-hook puncher...his fight with Morrison was a good one...lol.

Very lazy indeed. Tucker was in training here in las vegas in 2003, he trained hard for like 2 mnths and was talking like he was ready to get back in the picture, then he just vanished. I believe he is currently a security guard down in Tampa Fl.

I was a fan of James Bonecrusher Smith, he was slow, but man did he have a right hand. He pretty much hurt everybody he fought. He really should have took the chance and just went toe to toe with Tyson. When he finally opened up with what 15 secs left he staggered Tyson. A washed up Bonecrusher dropped Razor Ruddock with a single shot and Crusher destroyed Tim withers.p.o.o.n in 1 rd.

I wonder if we will ever have another era like that.

Yeah, Bonecrusher was a major threat to anyone...and yeah...when he finally threw a punch in that final round against Tyson...he really shook him to the bone...lol.

Another classic 80's Heavy was Mike Weaver. Always came to fight, had Holmes in serious trouble, but his big muscles and lack of real boxing skills held him back.

And many did not know that Holmes & Weaver rematched in 2000. It was Weavers final fight.
