e Bay Drama question ?? help plez

Ok the low down I seen a big item I wanted leeway on it (the items been there weeks even months) no interest i ask seller to hold it for me , he says ok I buy it now and he waits , 3 weeks down the line i am all set to pay but forget i offered him an extra bit of money .....iv looked over the said item its not perfect , has this lunatic any rights to demand the extra money? ( he has just sent message what about my extra cash ? before i send invoice) remembering when i did the buy now it was at his original price so he cant demand any more can he ? i maybe did say something about extra money via private messaging

what i am asking is can he report me? if i just give him his original asking price he never changed the listing to reflect my extra offer so Am i ok?

I looked over the item and its not perfect , so why should i pay more just coz he gave me a little leeway on it after all he is getting his asking price

    help :(

Well, what we're talking about here is the principle of the matter. You offered him additional money to hold it while he took it off line. You didn't really buy it when you selected that button. He held it. I would honor your original agreement and not make him take the fall if your having second thoughts now. He didn't make that deal, you did. And that was against Ebay rules, so he put his trust in what you said. I understand its easy to make impulse decisions that you would like to have back. And in this scenario you might feel like you have a loop hole. But in this situation, I think your rep is more important here. I would do the right thing and honor your agreement.

Awesome! I never doubted you for a sec Karen. Yeah, collecting is full of landmines. Unfortunately we sometimes set them ourselves. I consider it a common occupational hazard, I have to live with. You did good Karen... AND it's Friday! A-freakin'-Men!

You did the right thing by holding up to your end of the bargain and paying the extra as you agreed which I look at as a good faith effort to make the deal work on both sides. If you look at things from his perspective; he could have filed a non-paying bidder alert, re-listed and potentially re-sold the item you wanted. Can't to wait to see your goodies when they arrive.

You did the right thing, it was really the only way to go in order to honor the agreement YOU made......

I am looking forward to pics.....

Too many times I have done the same thing Karen, promised a slightly higher amount if the item could wait for my payment. Every time I have honored the agreement, the same way you just did. Also just like you I later realized the item may not have been worth the extra. However, a deal is a deal, and you deserve commending for holding up your end.
