Michael Vick gets 23 months in prison

    cnn.com/2007/US/law/12/10/vick.sentenced/index.html

He still faces a trial in Virgina, so more time may be added.

if he has to serve 2 whole football seasons in jail the odd of him as a starter in the NFL shirnk to almost zero. Not that they were good to begin with. spousal abuse and murder are easier for fans to ignore that animal cruelty for most people (sad statement in itself)
I never was a huge fan of his. I wonder if the league will make the Falcons eat his remaining salary/signing bonus when they cut him

I heard on the news last night that some of the dogs are being evaluated for "adoption." That doesn't make sense to me and it sounds like trouble. What if one of the dogs attacks and kills a person, especially a kid?

I doubt any of those dogs could be rehabed. Even Caesar Milan refused to take the dogs.

          I heard the news.

Is 2 years a normal sentence for this crime? I was trying to figure out if they gave him a fair punishment or threw the book at him.

It's a shame about the dogs....

I love dogs--- as well as cats

But, kids are the most precious thing on this earth.

If it was up to me, I'd put all the dogs involved in this down-- for the publics safety.

The Raiders might take a chance on him. They've got a history of taking on 2nd chance players.

The NFL shouldn't let him have a second chance. BuBye!!!

Pets are great but NEVER should they take priority over potential danger

I think he would be able to win a lawsuit if the league banned him (they never thought this particular event had to be addressed in league bylaws) so it is the choice of teams whether or not to hire him

By evaluating the animals then they can justify destroying them. Actually the SPCA always tried to save the animals if possible

I can't believe the sentence is that light.....hanging an animal? Drowning an animal?

What a sick dude. What's freaky is that prior to this coming out I'm sure kids were walking up to this guy while wearing his jersey and asking for autographs......creepy.

What's also creepy to me are all the other freaks out there that I'm sure we don't know about yet.

Glad there's "a better world" coming after this one!

Look at baseball, Pete Rose is banned for life.

As far as I am concerned. This creep shouldn't even have another chance working for the NFL and his sentence should have at least been two years. If Michael Vick was an average Joe up the street. He would not see the light of day for three years at least. This is sad how celebrities are fanny laughing at the law and flicking their noses and walking through the system.

If they can prove that he placed bets on the dogs, he would be banned for life since I believe gambling of any kind is forbidden via the league bylaws.
