it's a sad fact, no one wins here. that poor, beautiful little girl is still dead, the family is destroyed and whether she did it or not, her life is only going to go down hill from here. and for the record, I think she did it.Comment

Casey can claim she is innocent but like O.J. there isn't any evidence to point to her innocence. Yes when you look at everything it certainly looks like she did this. They needed a smoking gun and there just wasn't one. Her downfall may be that her parents probably perjured themselves to win her case. This will come out one day. It could change the whole verdict.Comment

Can't really change the verdict. The prosecution gets no appeal for losing a case. Thay CAN seek charges against perjurers. They CAN sentence her to the maximum punishment for the charges she was found guilty of and seek additional charges at any time.sigpicComment

I'm sure there is evidence that wasn't allowed at trial. I don't know if it would have made a legal difference, but either way I'm pretty disheartened by the verdict.
"Zanny the Nanny" is known drug culture slang for addicts doping their toddlers on Xanex to make them pass out, allowing the drug user parent to go score/party while leaving the kid unconscious. It seems fairly straightforward to me that Anthony meant to dope her kid to go score and accidentally killed her, then tried to get rid of the body and continued with the addict behavior until the questions caught up with her. At that point she had to invent something - and if you touch any addict with a feather, their stories start hemorrhaging logic like a leaky bucket. I'm sure at some point Anthony's mother overheard the Zanny phrase, and it likely got organically woven into the excuses - either by the mother's ignorance over what the phrase really meant, or by conscious obfuscation.
The woman that Anthony originally claimed as "her nanny" was later proven to be a woman with no connection to Anthony, who never met Anthony, and did not work as a nanny. Anthony was visiting and overheard her name in a leasing office when the woman was looking to rent an apartment at the same building one of Anthony's drug-buddies lived at. The woman had to sue the Anthony family to try to get some type of public retraction (not monetary) because the woman had lost her job and received death threats, etc, following her name being connected with the case.
The Anthony family only issued an apology that is marginally compliant with the ruling in that case, and Anthony's mother would continue to lie about and demonize the woman hoping to give the impression of guilt, even during the same press statements in which she was admitting the woman was blameless. Anthony's mother has yet to publicly apologize to the woman. If you watch her testimony in that case she is clearly belligerent, histrionic, and unapologetic in her lying.Last edited by Tothiro; Jul 6, '11, 4:11 AM.Comment

This makes me so sad, but unfortunately she's only been proven guilty of being a horrible parent...
My only solice is this: If she killed that beautiful little girl? She will have to live with that for the rest of her life. Unless she is a psychopath, that will eventually eat her up from the inside and to me that's a punishment worse than death and way worse than prison. The upshot for us is that it's free and we don't have to pay for her personal anguish.
On another note: As a Christian, I believe she'll have to answer to God one day...
So the take away?
If she is innocent, her life sucks now and she is paying for being a truly horrible parent and if not then one day she is gonna realize it and it's gonna be agony for life.
If she is truly guilty, her life is gonna suck until she is dead and maybe a long time after that...
Either way that little angel is not coming back and whether the State killes her, locks her up or sets her free, she is ultimately to blame.

I bet if we hear publicly from the jurors; they will for the most part say that they thought she did it or at least was involved but could not convict her because there was no smoking gun...nada. Lot's of circumstantial evidence but nothing that convingly said she was the killer."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
