The entire Austin Powers franchise has been a disappointment, with the exception of the first film..

If Myers had provided more story, perhaps a more subtle/intelligent humorous approach, more tongue-in-cheekness, the movies would be a lot more entertaining. Instead you get a lot of camera face-mugging, lowest denominator humor, cameras zooming in on facial moles, gross Fat Bast*** scenes that take way too long to finish.., etc..

I get the impression there isn't a dumb, physical, gross joke Mike Myers didn't like.. It makes the vintage Coburn 'Flint' movies look sophisticated.

They're movies I 'want' to like, I really do, and the first one had some great chemistry with Myers and Hurley. Seth Green was a great addition as well, and I saw them to be entertained, but usually I fell victim to Myers's over-the-top lameness, that an 8yr old would get sick of quickly.

With less vulgar, dumb humor, it would have been a MUCH more successful franchise, reaping much more $$$ and respect for Myers AND a much more appreciative audience.

Ya know, humor is totally subjective. Austin Powers IS all those things you said. It's dumb, vulgar, shameless, stupid humor that some people find funny, while other never will...that's life. People are different, it's what makes the World go round.

You know, if you made a mold of a Mego Astronaut head, cast and resculpted to add the cheesy grin, gave him Dr Venture's glasses and some proper custom clothing, you could make a cool custom Austin Powers.

The only problem with the second was it was basically the first movie redone (at least most of the jokes)

BTW, even though i'm not a Will Farrel fan, he was great in the second movie

The best part of two was Ozzy Osbourne saying two was pretty much the same as one.

Oh I know, you're absolutely right, of course.

Again, I WANT to love them more, and I really enjoy some aspects of them, like any scenes with Dr Evil, Seth, and Mini-Me, most of Austin's scenes, and still LOVE the opening music sequences..

STILL the best theme music to come out in generations..!?! Thank you, Mr. Quincy Jones.

And will I see the next sequel..??? OF COURSE I will.
