I really enjoyed Heathers. I was in high school at the time and most likely on a head full of acid, but I really liked how they worked the conversations and camera angles to just hint at the concept. I've seen so many movies since that have tried the same thing and come across so obvious with it, like Sixth Sense.

Ghost- made me think about what really happens when you die and if you really love someone so much, how hard it must be to let go

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" That movie just hit a nerve with me....a family struggling with a special need's child, a morbidly obese mother who was constantly the subject of ridicule but loved her children tremendously, and just the effect it had on the remaining children of the family trying to keep it together. The poignant ending to the movie when the mother dies and they do not want to go through the embarassment of having the roof removed so her body can be moved by crane and just left wondering "whatever happened to them?"

Memento. The kind of movie that makes you feel like you have to explain it to everyone in the room. Yes, I'm that guy, and i realize it's annoying. Haha I'm working on it.

The other movie that made me think. "Running on Empty" with River Phoenix, Judd Hirsch, M. Plimpton et al. If you can watch this movie without getting that painfull lump in your throat and not cry like a baby you are a bigger man than me. This move would make Brick Mantooth's eyes water.

When I was younger it was "Jaws". I was almost afraid to even take a bath back then let alone go out next to a puddle of water.

Then as I became a bit older many years later and finally conquered my fear of taking baths.... I would say the movie "The Minority Report". It really made me think in terms of what has already become at that time and what is becoming of the world in the future in which we live in.

                    Eraserhead.

                    Mulholland Dr.

                    Barton Fink.

                    Memento.

And oddly enough, Miller's Crossing made me use my noggin quite a bit. It's such a talky gangster film, and many characters are spoken about more than they're shown in the movie, so I had a hard time following it the first few times I watched it.

There are alot I suppose, but one of mine is the original "War of the Worlds". What made me think was then ending, and that things that we take for granted, or even want to wipe out, like viruses and germs, are sometimes good and necessary. It started me on the road to realizing that the natural world on this planet is connected and even things we find useless have their purpose here even if we don't see that purpose. Even something like a simple germ.
